He said he dreamed of this day since elementary school. Obviously we need more government regulation and background checks on blade sales. Where is the outrage?

Too bade we can't use guns in the kitchen as well.

2   tdr   2013 Apr 10, 6:05am

Fortunately the 2nd Amendment does not cover the right to bear knives, so they will continue to be safe for everyone to use.

Shame on you, Vaticanus! Your overlords demand that you be properly disarmed and thus obsequious to their dictatorial rule. How dare you insinuate that their emotional arguments lack validation in reality!

Dan seems to think that guns aren't a deterrent to government oppression. He thinks that attack helicopters would trump anything civilians could acquire. Well, he's right in one sense, and wrong entirely. I can think of two nearly foolproof ways to destroy all military airships in a matter of hours. And it would only require a trip or two to Home Depot.
How you gonna deal with intelligence and creative thinking?

So, you are saying that we don't need guns to defend ourselves against the government? Only Home Depot? Then why all the fuss about guns protecting the citizens from the government. You just "proved" dan entirely correct.

You should be a good citizen and share your ideas with the Pentagon. I sure they would make you very rich for giving them the blueprints allowing them to eliminate all enemy air craft in a couple of hours.

6   Shaman   2013 Apr 10, 6:20am

I'm being a good citizen by NOT sharing such plans! I don't want to see such a thing happen. I'm just saying that if things went truly to hell, creative thinking and basic ingredients would be enough to even the odds. No, guns are still necessary, because once you have taken away the air advantage, infantry has always and will always be required for combat. Especially urban and rough terrain combat.

Why do you think it is that no one in: Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, North Korea, Syria, etc. Has come up with a plan similar to one of your two plans? Why are people in those countries still unable to eliminate the air advantage of there enemies in a couple of hours? I am beginning to suspect your plans are similar to the time machine and perpetual motion patents that the US Patent Office has approved.

You don't have to share your plans with the world, but you can confidentially share them with the DoD and surely that would save the lives of Americans. Why don't you want to help save the lives of American service men and women?

Also, if I remember Dan's argument correctly -- it is not so much that guns can't be used to fight oppression at all, it is that American gun owners don't user their guns to fight clear government oppression.

Those are nations with radically different cultures than ours. Two differences that answer your question:
1) they value strong leadership over individuality. This means that they aren't likely to even consider plans that would chop off the head of the snake. Rather they attack the heart or the body. An ungoverned populace is unthinkable.
2) the people tend to keep knowledge and innovation (creative thought) and even skill at various crafts or trades a secret from all but their most trusted family or friends. We saw this in Afghanistan and Iraq. The local commanders learned from our troop instructors and then instead of disseminating the knowledge of how to effectively wage war, hoarded their new knowledge on hopes this would give them an edge over their competitors in their own military. This is a mindset prevalent in the East. Knowledge is power, and is never to be shared for free.
Thus the individuals have much less idea of how to use knowledge creatively. There are exceptions, but how many pioneering patents come from Iran? Iraq? Pakistan? China???? These people's have combined populations of more than four times America, yet they produce next to nothing in the field of the mind. Creativity is the hallmark of sentience, but these eastern cultures have culturally oppressed it out. "Shut up and say your prayers" if you're a Paki, and "shut up and study/work harder" if you're Asian. Culture is the difference. Ours celebrates creativity. Theirs does not. Perhaps that is the underlying cause of the mutual antagonism between our nations?

Sounds like what you are doing, and if you are correct -- doing so at the detriment to our country.

Yes, there are cultural elements that can effect creativity, but some people would disagree with you on the ingenuity of Iraqi insurgents:
http://www.leatherneck.coms/showthread.php?28460-Outgunned-insurgents-rely-on-ingenuity

If you were to follow this at all you would know that fighters in these countries don't seem to be lacking creative ideas on how to use low-tech counter measures to our high-tech army (sorry you won't find those in the patent office). Yet none of them has ever come up with the Home Depot destroy all enemy aircraft in a couple of hours idea.

Also, no one amongst the billion+ people living in the non-culturally oppressed world have come up with this foolproof way of destroying all enemy aircraft either.

Where is the outrage?

Ask the Vatican:

"Vatican Welcomes Obama Gun Control Proposal"

Clearly, gun control is a "step in a right direction," towards blade control.

Happy shaving! Oh wait, Leviticus says not to cut the corners of your beard. Too late! Oh the humanity, all those lost souls, clean shaven, burning in hell.

14 injured, no deaths.

Now if he'd used a firearm I think there'd be a lot more deaths. Unless he wasn't really trying extra hard to knife people, maybe he was just doing a little slice and dancing away?

*shrug*

If he had a assault rifle.. many more would have died, not just been wounded. And I doubt the hero college kid who tackled him would be alive.

Asking why do you HATE Catholics/popes so much it is borderline pathological. BTW I am not catholic. The whole thing is a joke. We agree on more things than we don't. I like what you have said about government gone awry and economics. Seriously, just because I see marriage different than you is no reason to be so nasty. Just an FWI like I said I'm not catholic, I don't support the empire and I agree with you on most issues. Have a nice day.

16   curious2   2013 Apr 10, 9:35am

Vaticanus says

FWI? Are you Flying While Intoxicated? That might explain why you falsely accuse me of hating Catholics, when I don't hate Catholics, in fact I feel especially sorry for the many Catholics who were sexually abused by priests. I do object to popes that conceal child abuse, and that sit on billions of dollars while Haitian Catholics starve. I don't hate those starving Haitian children, who have been reduced to eating dirt to stave off the pain of hunger. I'm not the one who took their parents' money and stashed it in a Vatican bank. I'm not the hater you're looking for. If you want to know who hates Catholics, find out who's taking poor people's money and spending it on lavish vestments.

YOU on the other hand chose to turn your avatar into a toilet sign to express YOUR hatred of gay couples securing the equal protection of the laws in a country that guarantees the equal protection of the laws to all persons. In other words, you believe gay couples aren't really people. And that belief is sufficiently important to you that you dug up a toilet sign icon somewhere and made it your avatar. That's quite hateful really.

So I'm sorry we agree on most issues, it makes me want to reconsider those.

Hate spews from the sodomites out of the shame that even nature itself is against them.

But this thread is about how sick people do sick things. It is people you ought to seek to change not laws

21   curious2   2013 Apr 10, 2:32pm

Vaticanus says

nature itself is

clearly in favor of homosexuality, it occurs in every species closely related to us, and in every human civilization throughout history. If it had no purpose, evolution would have selected against it long ago. Humans don't have our ancestors' tails anymore, except the vestigial tailbone, but humans still see homosexuality. In fact, every successful species closely related to humans includes this feature.

Only your hatred and shame blind you to these obvious facts.

If you want to find shame, look at the Vatican, where priests have learned that abused children won't tattle if you fool them into thinking the abuse was their own fault.

Meathead is the correct term during the eventual Zombie Apocolypse, some of us live in the past, while others look to the future.
