The Part-Time Economy

The Huffington Post recently reported that one fifth of all new jobs created since the recession ended were temporary jobs.

It’s tough being under 30 today. For the baby boomers growing up in the 1950′s and ’60′s being under 30 was like getting a lottery ticket – at least until the Vietnam War draft.

Many of the people accepting part time employment out of necessity are “millennials”. Not only is the work not full time but often doesn’t require a college education. In addition, part time employees are generally not on the same career path as full time employees so while future job prospects for millennials are uncertain, significant student loan debt loads are.

Tomorrow morning millennials will wake up to more bad news – student loan rates will double. The doubling of rates will ensure that the student loan default rate will rise even higher.

When will cracks in the economy be so obvious to all?

It's not complicated. Obamacare = part time workers. Obamacare is partly responsible for holding back the recovery.Obama should have gone for a single payer healthcare system(while being honest about our quality of care suffering slightly and health care providers seeing smaller paychecks) or folded.

single payer would have faced a tougher task to pass than obama care which passed by one vote

So what we have now is the worst of 2 worlds. No singlepayer health care plan and labor force becoming all part time workers, who are not extended any benefits. Obama knew this would play out like this but pushed forward anyway, perhaps thinking that once government gets its foot in the door, it will eventually lead to single payer Meanwhile, the nation suffers as a result. Obama's policies, regardless if how good intentioned, have been more destructive to the nation than any presidency in modern history. The rich are getting richer, the poor getting poorer, the middle class shrinking, hourly wages falling at a historic rate while the income disparity between minorities and whites grows wider and wider during his reign.....

yep he even convinced Dennis Kuchinich to go along.

The plan was ill conceived, rushed through, has unintended consequences (though predictable), needed the Supreme Court to save it as a tax even though it was not drafted as such and in the words of Nancy Pelosi they had to pass the bill to see what was in it.

Poorly done.
