That's the price of gas over there while the unemployment rate is around 15%, poverty rate is around 40% and a huge number of people make around $150-$200 per month. Meanwhile I get back to dublin and filled up a couple of days ago for $3.89 per gallon and almost 50% of dublin households make over $100K in annual household income. I don't think any of us have a right to complain about "high gas prices."

We don't live on an island void of any Oil deposits.

Nor is the United States smaller than many US counties.

Come on, it's supply and demand economics in the DM.
It probably takes them a few weeks to drive a full tank of gas empty.
Plus not everyone has a car in the DM.
Gas has to be imported and the Gas stations have to keep their doors open. 10% of the country with hardly any where to drive, isn't going to keep the doors open at 3.50 a gallon.

What's the average commute distance in Dominican republic? 120 yards?

Believe it or not, Dominican Republic is actually the better half of that island, by far! At $7k or so a year per capita GDP, the average resident of Dominican Republic makes 8x per year as much as that of Haiti next door.

How much are you Stupid Republicans willing to pay per gallon?

Gasoline is over $4/gallon here in leftist Kalifornia. And I can't even get 93 octane. Oh well.

For some poor people, gasoline is a major expense. (And I assume it's a major expense for some of the very few people who own cars in DR.)

For those doing well financially around here, gasoline is a drop in the bucket compared to... property tax, sales tax, and state income tax.

I'd be better off with cancelling California income tax and then paying $50/gallon gasoline tax. As an added bonus, the roads would be cleared of traffic!
