Cited for their discoveries of machinery regulating vesicle traffic in human cells •  Sharing the honor are Berkleys Schekman and Stanfords Sdhof Randy Schekman, a professor in the Department of Molecular and Cell biology at the University of California, Berkeley, and Thomas Sdhof, professor of molecular and cellular physiology at Stanford University are the winners, along with James E. Rothman, professor and chairman in the Department of Cell Biology at Yale University, of the 2013 Nobel Prize in Medicine.

Very unlikely. Usually the institution gets the patent.
