I have been told for decades now that using bankruptcy simply to discharge inconvenient obligations isn't unethical, it's "smart business".

Also "smart business":

Selling NINJA loans, while raiding the corporate safe with both fists (see Angelo Mozilo)

Getting a municipality to give you a ton of tax credits to keep a business local, then moving it anyway couple years later to make even more money elsewhere. (See Boeing, or virtually any Fortune 500 coporation)

Raising Trust Fund babies (see Mitt Romney)

Hiding money in offshore bank accounts (see Mitt Romney)

Vulture capital takeover artists, wherein a functioning company is bought on credit, loaded up with debt to profit the investors, then sold or bankrupted all within 7 years. (see Mitt Romney)

High Frequency Trading (aka frontrunning).

Making sure Grandy gets removed from the ventilator during optimum "hole" in estate taxes, so they die at the most financially convenient time, just "smart business".
