Walmart sales have plunged because unless you're 400lb and wear spandex, and live under a rock and have never seen the internet Memes about Walmart shoppers. No self respecting person would want to shop there and have their picture taken while they were unconsciously scratching their ass or something and it go viral as a Walmart shopper.

Sadly, in many many small towns or rural areas, the local Walmart is their only choice. Walmart comes to town and runs the "indigenous" retailers out of business with small scale "dumping" operations. Then they raise prices again when they are the only game in town.

Prices are pretty good in Walmart. When I shop Walmart or Costco, I never look at prices. I used to shop at the regular grocery stores - Ralph's, Albertsons, etc, but when Walmart became commonplace a few years ago in Southern California, I happily defected. Those grocery stores are steadily losing marketshare, with many locations closing it's doors.
