I have frequently written that Zero Hedge has the MO of a Soviet agitprop operation, that it reliably peddles Russian propaganda: my first post on this, almost exactly three years ago, noted the parallels between Zero Hedge and Russia Today.

A few days ago ZH ran a post that illustrates perfectly how it spews Russian propaganda that slanders the United States and other enemies of Russia....
...
This is the classic Soviet/Russian agitprop MO that I noted 3 years ago. A story appears in an obscure publication, typically outside the US or Europe, where it has been planted by Soviet/Russian intelligence. It is then picked up by another, more widely read publication, in Europe or the West. Maybe it works its way through several additional media sources. It then gets disseminated more widely in the west, sometimes making it to prestige publications like the NYT.
...
ZH is an important transmission belt moving the story from Russian propagandists/information warriors to western news consumers. It happens a lot. This is a particularly egregious example, but the transmission belt runs almost daily. ZH is as much a part of Putin’s information warfare as RT. If you follow closely enough, it’s as plain as the nose on your face.

So why does anyone take Zero Hedge seriously? And believe me, many do. Many people who should know better.

And what is the US’s counterstrategy? Marie Harf’s Twitter account. I say again: we are so screwed.

wtf would Zerohedge be Russian propaganda, that's basically the entire Liberal enterprise.

The real question is: is CIC a Russian propagandist?

3   Heraclitusstudent   2014 Nov 25, 10:31am

Is the tovbot a democrat propagandist?

Streetwise Professor is a rabid neocon, of course.

And you know neocons, if it doesn't work, double down!

I swear I thought Obama was working for Russia, later I just realized he is simply incompetent and not trying to pull down America on purpose.

It took you an awful long time to deduce the obvious. Bush was the worst president, Obama the most incompetent. What is next?

Russians are very good at propaganda, they perfected it. It comes with 70+ years of executive experience during last century. Many of the key players from the communist regime are still in power, only now they are part of right leaning new capitalist regime with media censorship.

They can and wil do whatever is necessary using any means at their disposal to engage in propaganda wars. But, they are not the only ones. The chinese, the muslims, the israelis and the influential rich such as koch/soros all have front groups that are allegedly independent but in reality follow and fulfill the executive orders of their masters/benefactors. There's a war out there.

saying Putin is some kind of dark overlord

Why, vladimir is a great uniter. American far left loves him because he is supposedly a check on "american imperialism" that's driven by "neocons" and american far right loves him as some kind of symbolic white american hope, everything they want in a leader, the inverted hope and chains. He should get a noble peace prize for bringing people together!

Finally you boys agree that Obama is incompetent. Took you long enough to see past that curtain.

I am pretty sure Straw Man is a neocon as well. Most of the posts are leaning that way. Although zerohedge can be crazy at times, there is plenty of interesting info on there. Most of the Bloomberg articles lately have been just as sensational as ZH.

Agreed. It would be fun if somebody put up a page that tracked the outcome of professed policies of Neocons and Neoliberals like Kagan, Broder, Porn-stasche, etc.

Zerohedge is a Goldbug/Ancap site. IMHO, It has become diluted with crazier posters over the past few years. That doesn't mean they don't have good stories, just that's it's often over-the-top or exaggerated. When one reads it with that it mind, it's useful, and often funny. For my anti-Oligarch news, I prefer Naked Capitalism generally these days.

In ZH/von Mises/RT/Russia Insider thinking, Ron Paul is presented as having more power and appeal than he does, regrettably (at least on foreign policy). In truth, Ron Paul represents a small but vocal minority.

In Economist/Newsweek/NYT land, Putin is becoming very unpopular, Yabloko would win every election if Putin and the FSB didn't steal them, and that Alexei Navalny is an important figure in Russian Politics. In truth, Putin is as popular as FDR in the US, Yabloko/Navalny represents a tiny minority, found only in St. Pete and Moscow, mostly of lawyers and fixers and foreign-trained economists who stand to benefit for a second round of shock capitalism, which most Russians - from Left to Right - don't want a repeat of.

The best thing is to read US/Neoliberal Propaganda, then read a corresponding article from the other side.

I'm a unionbot propagandist. Since I don't post very often and do a very poor job of it, there was a push to decompile me. But since I'm union, they can't touch me.

I am racist, but it seems like there are quite a few Aryan Nations bots on this site.

As in "The whitest guy who shoots first in any confrontation is automatically justified because I was there" whether or not the evidence supports such a claim.
