taxi companies provide shitty expensive infrequent service, and so are trying to use the law to prevent innovation that is pressuring them to improve.

this is the reality of business in america. it's not about improving things, it's about lobbying people in power to prevent things from improving so that you can maintain monopoly profits.

and it's all usually done in the name of "public safety".
