Basic income is a good idea. All Rep/Con/Teas in Big Govt. should be paid $2.00/hour/no benefits.
Any R/C/Ts that works for Free Market Capitalist Enterprise businesses should pay to work so the company has a guaranteed basic income.
Corporations are people too.
That's exactly why BI is a bad idea, any Liberal brainchild recipient is dictated based solely on their voting preference.
To qualify you'll have to register in the darker region of the Panatone scale.
A better approach would be to make employees over a certain age guaranteed full time not subject to whim of employer's "needs." Essentially it is better for society to have 1 employee who works 40 hours, than to have 3 employees who scrimp by at 13 hours each. The latter scenario is nothing other than distribution of poverty under the guise of lowering unemployment rate.
A better solution would be re-interpreting what "minimum wage" is: instead of a line below which employment is illegal, it should become a minimum wage guaranteed by the government by having the government stump up the difference out of existing government budget. e.g. freeze government budget, and if an employer is only willing to pay $5/hr whereas the legislators have set $7.50/hr minimum wage, the government will pay the $2.50/hr difference at the time of the employee's tax filing for up to 40hrs per week and 52weeks in a year. That way, you achieve effective guaranteed income for all who can work. Employers still have to pay payroll tax; that combined with 40hrs per week limit on each tax filing employee claiming such credit will put somewhat of a limit on fake jobs, while giving those unemployed or on "disability" a chance to start on the job upgrade path.

More corporate welfare. Great idea.
