Many of you are misled by the US government/the 1% to think that we dropped the A-bomb to save our American soldiers' lives. That's not true. Since when did the 1% who rule the US care for our lives? They don't care if they kill babies or innocent civilians over the protection of their own money. If you still believe the A-bomb was dropped to save our lives, then let me ask you the following.

1. Why did it have to be August 6?
2. Why did we have to drop second one only 3 days later? And it was our last one.
3. Why Japan, not Germany or other country?

It is so simple. By the agreement between Russia and United States at the Yalta conference, Russia was set for an invasion of Japan in August. Russians were already set to invade Japan. Their intention was to go in before United States to take control of Japan. If we didn't want any more of American casualty, we could have let Russians do that. The simple reason is that we wanted Japan. For that, we had to force Japan to surrender unconditionally fast. If Russia invaded Japan, the economic outlook would have been so much more different.

Japan was our best acquisition of territory. For that, many innocent lives had to die in a most horrible way possible. How would you like to have your skin sloughed off day by day exposing your flesh and blood, bleeding diarrhea, finger falling off one by one? We execute the death row inmate in a more humane way possible. This also happened to babies and children. Our media hid the fact that these people are dying in a most horrific death possible after the bomb was dropped. Our government or the 1% fed us the propaganda to justify our dropping of A-bomb. It supposedly makes us feel good thinking we save our lives and way of our lives. So the 1% needs to keep feeding into our hate to make us feel that it was justified.

My point is simple. The 1% controls the US. They don't care about us or our children. Our children won't get the same type of education as the 1%. Don't be fooled by their propaganda.

1. Why August 6th? The weather was clear over the target, we had the bomb ready to go, why wait?

2. Why did we drop the second bomb three days later? Because we had given Japan that time to surrender and they had not done so. How long were we supposed to wait? The only reason we waited as long as we did was likely to gauge the amount of damage the first one had done to properly drop the second..

3. Germany was defeated by the time we had the first bomb ready. Japan on the other hand had not.

Did Russia even have a Pacific fleet up tot the task of mounting an invasion?

Operation Olympic, the invasion of Kyūshū, was to begin on "X-Day", which was scheduled for 1 November 1945. The combined Allied naval armada would have been the largest ever assembled, including 42 aircraft carriers, 24 battleships, and 400 destroyers and destroyer escorts.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Downfall

That's what our planners thought it would take. Also long range bombers which Russia did not possess. Russia was simply not up to the task of invading Japan.

They certainly had a modest Pacific Fleet and some amphibious capability, probably not enough to invade Japan proper. Then again, Japanese Naval Power was almost non-existent at this point.

This one's real interesting. Looks like a few thousand Red Marines were enough to take South Sakhalin, very different experience than Okinawa.

http://www.fegi.ru/prim/flot/flot1_13.htm

The US was interested in ending the war quickly so US troops could quickly take possession of surrendered Japanese Forces across Asia rather than them surrendering to the Reds, which is why there is North and South Korea. Had the US waited a few more weeks between bombs, or launched Operation Olympia instead of Atomic Bombing, there would be a United People's Republic of Korea.

Other time pressures: The Indonesian and especially the Viet Minh insurgents. Also the Indian National Army, whose attempted punishment by the British caused the great Indian Army / Navy Mutiny of 1947, which was the death knell of the British Raj.

Public Pressure was also building against continuing WW2, many thought a blockade of Japan would eventually force them to surrender in Time, but with a minimal cost in American Lives - but it probably would have killed MORE Japanese than the two atomic bombs did from malnutrition. The Japanese were already living on well below 1800 calories a day.

Same reason we landed at Normandy, to hold on to at least part of Western Europe. By June 1944, it was only a matter of time before the Soviets reached Paris, maybe a whole extra year at most.

And your point is?

Yet the Central Bank AKA the Fed is fine...

The TTP is fine...

15 years of war is fine...,.

Blowing one bubble after another is fine...

The relentless dumbing down of the citizens especially in economics is fine...

Homeland Security continues to encroach on liberties...

Yeah it all makes sense now that generation was great and we're first rate shit. Drag them down to our level to make our selves feel better for being so gullible and useless at patriotism, honor, tradition, and most of all respect. Those fucking assholes saving the world from Imperial Japan and Hitler.

You realize Russia was our allies at that time.

Oh no, I have a lot of respect for the WW2 Generation. We won the war in the Pacific, hands down. By the time the Soviets got involved, US victory was guaranteed. And vice-versa in Europe.

One thing the WW2 Generation demanded was no pre-WW2 bullshit. It's their children that ruined America.

6   Nobody   2015 Aug 7, 6:54pm

You guys are totally forgetting the detail of Yalta Conference. Read it before you bullshit about Russians didn't have Pacific Fleet or not.

My point is that the 1% controls us, and they don't care if it is children or babies to enrich themselves. More money the rich saves from the tax, they will use that to squeeze more from us. What good the tax reduction brought us? Are you enjoying your trickle down? I live in San Jose. My kids go to public school and see starving kids scavenging food after the lunch everyday. Yeah, sure they get free lunch. The kids in school don't get the book, homework and help. All these because we are tricked into giving more tax reduction to the rich.

OK, if it is true, what are you going to do about it? I doubted it, too. In a rich county like Santa Clara, I didn't believe it. Kids and their future are definitely being hurt here. Now you read about it, are you just going to walk away? The solution is simple. Just simply revert the tax system back to tax the rich more, and we can feed the kids and give them the education and future they need.

I'm all for free education all the way to PhD, but to claim kids are starving is just plain ridiculous. All I see is fat overfed kids, almost everywhere.
If they are starving...Prove it.

Well that's how we roll in this country, if you don't live in the "Good School" district.

1% trickle down my ass, we're the one percent. We're the ones living in the gated community demanding state of the art Tech labs upgraded year over year during the summer for the privileged white liberal rich kids while your type talk a good game about books, and education for the under privileged. While you are quite content to watch the other schools that aren't in the good school districts. All get security upgrades, and state of the Art metal detectors, training those students of a lifetime of either working the Criminal justice system or being cattled through it.
You can't be serious with that trite?

Obviously, you don't have kids who are going to the SJUSD. Sad. Their parents live in the garage, in a van or under the bridge. Just go to any school and watch what these kids do after lunch. Or you can ask 5th grade kids if they know a simple multiplication. More than half of them doesn't. That's my proof.

It won't stop me from feeling for these kids being a father myself; just like I feel for the kids and babies who died by the radiation poison from A-bomb. For your info. I am not the 1%. I am becoming smart enough to know how they think to benefit from it.

Captain, it may be the same rhetoric to you. But the 1% has blinded us from believing what is really going on. Look at Strategist. He just can't bring himself to believe it.

Read history more carefully, the self-proclaimed 'Greatest Generation" had essentially the same social problems we do and both racism and sexism were extreme. The following generations have done a pretty good job without the economic advantage that the rest of the world;s industry had just been bombed flat whiel the US had just built its industry (and military) up from backwater agricultural nation to US economic and military supremacy. 'Our level' has been pretty damn good.
Do you seriously think that "Russia was our allies at that time" meant we could trust Russia? As Woody Allen observed "I've always liked, someday the lamb will lay by the lion.... but it won't get much sleep.” And that was a closer description of our relationship with the USSR. Some Japanese ports would have helped he Soviet navy in its Pacific games.

BTW while going through Grad school I worked swing-shift s and did my YMCA works outs around 9 am when the senior program was going. Some very cool old guys (I was young once) and they anecdotally said what I just posted. They were no fools.

They probably can't do simple addition either. That's not proof they are starving.
San Jose is full of genius H1B techies. Their kids are probably doing multiplication in Kindergarten. It's possible many kids are undocumented, who just crossed the border. In which case I would blame Mexico for not teaching their kids.

Except it's wan't a fake outrage back then. You just had evil assholes and dickheads. The greatest generation didn't try to label everyone assigned to those times as miserable dregs over the actions of a few. People are a product of their times period.
And whether you like it or not. Future historians, and conversationalists a like will judge in ways you never dreamed would be an issue and more than that. You wont be around to defend your self When these clueless history revisionists start telling your story from a fictional point of view.

Not everyone was a racist or sexist quit trying to make your self more important than you really are.

It's worse than that. It's an active effort to control the entire populace. Make everyone equally poor(but a few of the political class will be more equal than others). The United States is the last holdout on the planet. Everyone has guns and there's millions of battle hardened vets. How dare Americans retain the ability to rise up against a President who ignores the laws of the land and consolidates power illegally. And oh the temerity of the American people to insist that everyone earn their way in life through work and earning of their own accord. Pisses off the Marxists to no end. So the false fairy tale of the 1% and then the .01% must be told by the useful idiots. Make it seem like no one has a chance and people start to believe it. Pravda 101.
