Science Friday: Bangladesh bloggers getting murdered

"A Bangladeshi blogger known for his atheist views has been hacked to death by a gang armed with machetes in the capital Dhaka, police say.

Niloy Neel was attacked at his home in the city's Goran area.

He is the fourth secularist blogger to have been killed this year by suspected Islamist militants in Bangladesh.

Imran H Sarkar, head of the Bangladesh Blogger and Activist Network, told the BBC that Mr Neel had been an anti-extremist voice of reason. "He was the voice against fundamentalism and extremism and was even a voice for minority rights - especially women's rights and the rights of indigenous people," he said.

BBC World Service South Asia editor Charles Haviland says that, like previous victims, Mr Neel was not only secular but atheist and, like two of the others, he was from a Hindu, not a Muslim, background.
***
All four men killed were on a list of 84 "atheist bloggers" drawn up by Islamic groups in 2013 and widely circulated. It was originally submitted to the government with the aim of having the bloggers arrested and tried for blasphemy.
***
Bangladesh is officially secular but critics say the government is indifferent to attacks on bloggers by Islamist militants.

Two people have been arrested, but no-one charged, in connection with this year's killings, our correspondent adds."

On the latter article, its ridiculous that they haven't made any inroads to finding the murderers. Mainly because they don't want to, I would suspect.

Read the fate of Hypatia. That's what awaits the "enlightened"/"strong and independent" women and the cultures that lure them away from the fundamental duty of reproduction, thereby having their offsprings over-run by benighted fucktards.

Hypatia was carved to death by a Christian mob exactly 100 years after Constantine legalized Christianity. Constantine only legalized Christianity after 100+ years of Roman persecution trying to stamp out Christianity costing the Roman state enormous treasure and corruption.

Sadly, the hits just keep on coming:

"Secular activist who criticised Islamism hacked to death in Bangladesh
***
Nazimuddin Samad, 28, had been on a hit list of 84 atheist bloggers that a group of radical Islamists drew up and sent to Bangladesh’s interior ministry.

“At least four assailants hacked Nazimuddin Samad’s head with a machete on Wednesday night. As he fell down, one of them shot him with a pistol from close range. He died on the spot,” deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan police Syed Nurul Islam told AFP.
***
The Dhaka Tribune said the assailants shouted Allahu Akbar (God is greatest) as they attacked Samad on a busy road near Dhaka’s Jagannath University, where he was a law student.
***
“We have not been able to identify any suspect,” said Tapan Chandra Saha, police officer in charge of the Sutrapur area of Dhaka.
***
In 2015, suspected Islamist militants hacked to death at least four atheist bloggers and a secular publisher in a long-running series of targeted killings in the Muslim majority country.

Police arrested members of a banned group called the Ansarullah Bangla Team over those murders, although none has yet been prosecuted."

For those who don't know, Bangladesh was East Pakistan until it declared independence in 1971. "Bangladesh's official figures say Pakistani soldiers, aided by local collaborators, killed an estimated three million people, raped about 200,000 women and forced millions more to flee their homes during the war." (Our Pakistani "allies" later hid Osama bin Laden from us while taking $$$ from us to "help" in the GWOT). Bangladesh continues to suffer from similar problems as the Islamic "Republic" of Pakistan, for the same reason.

This madness has become our problem. How do you deal with a certain percent of 1.2 billion people who are inspired by Islam to kill, and the rest who do nothing to stop them?

Protestant Merkel's "Christian Democrats" are the principal drivers of importing angry Muslims into Europe, with encouragement from the Pope, but yes we do also see atheists agreeing with it. They're all like turkeys campaigning for Thanksgiving.

"A U.S. Embassy worker and editor of Bangladesh's first LGBT magazine was among two men hacked to death Monday evening in Dhaka, officials say.

A statement from the U.S. Embassy identified the man as Xulhaz Mannan, calling him a "dear friend."

"We abhor this senseless act of violence and urge the Government of Bangladesh in the strongest terms to apprehend the criminals behind these murders," Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat, the U.S. ambassador to Bangladesh, said in the statement."

Islam strikes again.

PatNet being a free speech zone, may I please say, I do not want these murders happening here? I lose patience with people who whine about "Islamophobia." It is not a phobia if they are actually trying to kill you. I do not agree with regressive identitarian "liberals" who say we must invade Muslim countries and import people who believe they are omnipotently commanded personally to kill us all. It is like looking at a municipal swimming pool and saying "sharks are endangered and probably hungry, we need to drive some sharks into this pool, it will be ok, everyone can just get along." No, it is not OK. Life is not a Disney movie. Some people believe in a hateful religion that commands them to kill everybody who doesn't agree with it, and to spread that religion everywhere, and I do not want them spreading it here.

I don't believe you can have a phobia over an ideology, philosophy, or religion, since those are A) Voluntary Beliefs B) Not Innate Characteristics like Melatonin Levels

Nobody says Flatearthaphobia or Creationismaphobia.

"Suspected Islamist militants have killed the wife of a senior antiterror police official in Bangladesh.

Authorities said three men riding on a motorcycle stabbed and shot Mahmuda Akter Sunday morning as she was dropping off her son at a school bus stop in the port city of Chittagong.

Akter is the wife of Babul Akter, who was recently promoted to superintendent of police in Dhaka, the capital, after serving as the lead investigator into a wave of brutal killings that have targeted secular and progressive bloggers, writers and activists."

The name of the now deceased wife and mother was Mahbuba Khanam Mitu. I wondered whether to post a 6,000th comment, but I want to express sincere condolences to her children and widower. Voters, please consider the evidence before assuming that religions are all the same, or that Islam is just like the one(s) you feel more familiar with. Different people have different beliefs, which motivate different opinions and actions. Some opinions and actions are, sadly, worse than others.

All religions are not equal. Anyone who thinks so is delusional or just plain stupid.

Muslim / Muslim countries.

countries where muslims are minority, They want more rights, even better than your general population. Then they want to make it their own land, don't let them in.

Countries where muslims are majority, Kill rest of other religion, no freedom. Pakistan, indonesia, bangladesh, nigiria.... list goes on. All these countries were once not muslim. they converted by force with sward. These muslims are so brainwashed, they don't remember that their most of their ancestors and parents were not muslims.

They hate their ancestors, but love Mohammad, a child rapist. Their ancestors are probably turning in their graves as we speak.

Where Christianity leaves, the void is filled by Muslims. And they are not very agreeable people to American values.

Maybe liberals will understand when a few more gay bars get blown up or few more news papers shot, or towers flown planes into.

On other hand, nah they’ll never get it...
