Have you ever seen a show with a cruel judge who berates wealthy people and tells them how stupid they are?

Celebrity Apprentice?

I have never seen it, but I'll wager that most of the GOP base has seen every episode.

How about Judge Black? Financial criminals appear before Judge Bill Black who exposes their callous disregard for society, berates them for their complete lack of morals, describes their horrendous felony crimes, and has the option of sentencing them to the firing squad, subcontracted out to China.

producers mine small claims court cases for semi-interesting ones an People go onto "judge judy" to resolve their issues and split the $5,000 fee they receive for appearing. If a person is awarded $2,500, the remaining $2,500 is split between the two "litigants." If they have little self respect and want to be ridiculed by those people who stay home all day to watch court shows (as well as by a judge who is mean as shit), they make a little money and get a trip to NYC or wherever it's filmed.

She's a mean-ass woman who calls people liars and makes fun of them. She's the Sarah Palin of her profession.

Her pseudomorality would be a perfect addition for the walmart cult.

5   Ceffer   2015 Aug 28, 10:27am

She's Jerry Springer with robes.

With our depraved legal system, it's top flight hypocrisy for any of them to preach from the bench with the legal house in such disorder.

Hundreds of years of corrupt practices have induced institutionalized sociopathy and some pretty precious personality disorders. It comes from abusing predatory governmental powers, greed and believing the the population is just there to exploit.

6   Tenpoundbass   2015 Aug 28, 10:32am

I like her, she's the only person in America that can legally tell a no nothing 20 something black person talking about being disrespected to shut up and sit down. Without it turning into a Liberal spearheaded grand jury investigation of human rights abuse.

7   lostand confused   2015 Aug 28, 11:03am

It is not a surprise. She has been on air for years-people know what they are getting into. Maybe they want to be on TV and if you work at Burger King, this becomes your 15 min of fame-a tale to tell the grandkids.

Meanwhile another crazy TV judge-Judge Joe or some such is in jail now?

I just don't get this victim mentality.

You win! Virtually from the beginning--I was at some friends' home in the 90's and they said do you ever watch Judge Judy, she yells at people (I'd been watching People's Court since the beginning with Judge Wapner in 1982, the reason I bought my first 30 lb. one program in 24 hours top loader VCR--now on my 4th). I did and I tape every episode to watch with my evening meal along with People's Court.

Blurtman says

She's gives the back of her hand to whoever deserves it, rich, poor, even law enforcement. She made a fool of a high level law enforcement officer whose spoiled princess of a daughter defendent lodged a complaint against a police officer who stopped her for speeding. The father kept trying to interrupt Judy and she put him in his place. The officer's recording of the stop proved the girl was lying and he got every bit of the $5,000 he was asking for because every complaint becomes a permanent part of an officer's record and can affect their careers.

elliemae says

And in every case you can be sure they are. What really gets her goat are people who know another person of the opposite sex, or even same sex, is infatuated with them and use that fact to get money from them when they have no intention of entering into a relationship with them. They finally get fed up and sue for what they think they are owed--in most cases it wasn't a contract and they walk out losing, but Judy lets the other person know what a creep they are and that they have no character.

You see many cases of people who have lived together for years without marrying, even having children together, and Judy always asks them why--the answers are always lame excuses. These are couples who want the courts to separate the pots and pans and other minutae of a relationship of many years gone sour, usually costing one of the parties thousands of dollars. She explains that the courts are set up to accommodate married people which results in community property, not people who have decided to play house without the benefit of marriage. I've seen case after case where a plaintiff is flabbergasted upon losing not only the case but many years of their life and thousands of dollars wasted when they thought they were getting some kind of leg up by not marrying.

She spent 25 years in family court and has seen it all and can detect a liar a mile away. A couple of famous Judy-isms: "Um" is not an answer; the answer is either yes or no, don't look over there, look right here in my eyes, and "I may be wrong, I remember being wrong once back in 1947, but not recently", not in my America. The last was a response to a young defendent who was being sued for attacking a fellow student. It came out during the trial that he had been suspended for attacking a teacher the previous year, but got no jail time. Judy was appalled and said in her America (she's 73) someone who assaulted a teacher would not get away with no jail time.

In a recent case the defendent, who lost the case and was a complete idiot himself, tried to defend himself by saying well the employment court ruled in my favor. Judy replied that if the employment court has ruled in his favor that was just another example of what a third rate pile of crap America is today--the word "crap" was bleeped out but you could hear just enough of the first letter to know that's what she said.

And finally here are some good examples someone complied:

She's paid $47 million a year for this--I think at one time she rivalled Oprah.

Bernie Sanders for president, Elizabeth Warren for Secretary of the Treasury, Bill Black for Attorney General. Too bad one cannot find a good candidate for Minister of Real Gender Equality. Actually, Judge Judy might work for that last one, not sure. Or better, JudgyBitch!

11   justme   2015 Aug 28, 1:40pm

I have occasionally watched Judge Judy and I think she has a pretty good nose for detecting bullshit, and acting accordingly. That is not a bad quality for a judge to have.

12   zzyzzx   2015 Aug 28, 2:02pm

Judge Judy is totally awesome and is the Donald Trump of TV show judges. That's why she is so popular.

The people that are on her show are losers.

It is small claims court-with a maximum limit of $5,000 . You think a crooked bankster will come to court for that?/ Regardless, people sign up for this-even though they have seen the show for years. If you don't like to be made a fool of in national TV-don't sign up for it.

I mean look at the maury crap. Whores who slept with a gazillion men actually come to the show take a DNA test and still accuse the wrong man of being the father to get some money out of him. Then they get all surprised when it is not the man's baby-really??

15   lostand confused   2015 Aug 28, 3:17pm

I mean look at these water buffalos run away when their lies are revealed on national TV by DNA-you think they didn't know????? It is just the feminazi culture that has become mainstream-always be the victim, never take responsibility, take, take, take, never apologize or be responsible for anything in your life.

I've never seen any of those Judge shows that I thought were with real actual defendants with an actual beef.
Usually in the hall during the exit, the quid pro quo exchange is always so forced. It's easy to have emotions evoked out of you that it may look real when you have someone like Judge Judy improving her lines from the bench. But out in the hall where they are forced by the host to duke it out in parting words. Never had it sounded like two people with an actual beef, and one person lost a judgement and the otherone won. Real losing parties would tell the host to eph him self and unload on the winner telling them it will be a cold day in hell before they got their money and they hoped the person would die.
It's always this very nervous mono tone... "Er uh you know whachoo did was wrong"
"well uh, you shouldn't have uh scratched um my car"

That's why she tells them to shut up and sit down, they are horrible actors and they are fucking up her gig. She's a playah!

17   Tenpoundbass   2015 Aug 28, 3:28pm

While reality shows can and do have real people half hour reality talk shows never have real people. They used to before the Jenny Jones incident where a guy professed his love to a small town heteral sexual on the show. The guy shot the guy dead when they got back home. Because the hetro guy told everyone he was going to meet the girl of his dreams. As the producers told him the love of his life wanted to go on the show with him. Everyone got their ass sued off, and that was the end of Jenny Jones show and her career. Jerry Springer started using real people playing people with real problems. These aren't even aspiring actors. Running reality series with regular real people have time to vet the people while developing the show before they even go into production. They know these people for months before they even start shooting. And lately it seems they didn't do a good job vetting most of the reality show stars.
There's no way a production company would bring total strangers together to get in their heads and pull out tension between them for the sake of a half hour one time show with them. It's just too big of a wild card what could go wrong.

Well if the courts forcibly pushed them there-that would be horrible-almost like the private prisons. But these people choose to go there-choose-that is they are willingly signing up to be insulted by a screaming banshee. Free country and all!

I doubt if that could be handled in small claims which are for $5,000 or less--I couldn't cite any particular episode because I've been watching it for nearly 20 years, they all run together. I do wish sometime they would compile them all together in a set of CD's. I know there have been cases where obviously affluent people are suing each other simply because of their circumstances when they reveal expensive homes for example as part of the cases. Because someone is poor or middle class doesn't excuse them for being dishonest, liars, users of other people or people who don't pay their debts when someone has helped them who really could not afford to do without the money for a long time. Here is a clip that puts here in a less forbidding light if that's the way you see her--I love the way the rest of the group gives Judge Judy wide berth on either side as though she was some kind of diva:

"Denied! Get this raving ASSHOLE a wedding dress and vaseline him up! He'll know devastated!"

I'm a social democrat, so believe me, I'm no spokeswoman for the upper classes!

But we all must know our strengths and weaknesses. There is no such thing as total equality .

I am less powerful in the social hierarchy than are those who have
for whatever reasons
more influence with others.

e.g.
My federal representative may well pay more attention to a complaint from a member of his/her party
who has supported that representative's successful election campaign
AND not necessarily supported it as a quid pro quo.
but simply because they share the same socio-economic values.

AS LONG AS THE SUPPORT IS CLEARLY BASED ON PRINCIPLE.

The motivation might well be simply that they share the same values.

I can NEVER understand why a commitment between two people (man and woman (other) once ratified by each other and witnesses has to include the government; and IF that commitment fails, one party expects the government to work it out for them.

I've heard a marriage certificate as "a license to fuck". From that point of view, no, you shouldn't need it.

But ultimately it's about who is responsible for the children, imho. The traditional, unspoken deal with marriage is basically a contract that goes like this:

"Do you, woman, agree not to fuck any other men while married to this man?"
"Do you, man, agree to support and protect this woman and any children this woman has while you're married to her, because she promises that they are yours?"

Maybe we should revert to that language, just to clarify things.

The government's role should be to enforce that contract if either side defaults:

1. If the woman fucks other guys, the contract is broken and he has no further responsibility for her or the kids, and perhaps should get a refund.
2. If the man tries to ditch her and the kids after promising he would support her and his legitimate children, the government should get him to pay up.

If no kids are involved, I think the government should have no role. Marriage is about producing children, and that's it.

Do you think a dude who knowingly and willingly enters into marriage with a woman who had kids with someone else prior to their marriage while he had none that he is bringing into the "union" should wear a badge of shame? Especially if a chick has a BMI of 40+?

Right on.

Bring back criminal conversation and alienation of affection lawsuits, and don't allow married couples with children under 18 to file no-fault divorces.

Also, whomever is found to be the guilty party in the abandonment or adultery divorces automatically does not only not get custody of the children, but has to pay damages.
