I'm aware as I sure each of you are that there are differences between each of our individual political ideologies. For instance I believe Indigenous has quite a different stance on foreign policy than I do. And I know I publicly disagreed with Thomas Wong about the NSA stuff. But despite disagreement, theres almost no instance where a right of center poster has actively attacked another right of center poster with personal type attacks. In fact, I might have come closest when I misinterpreted stuff that Capt posted and another time at something Ceffer posted. And I trolled really hard against gay people and I think Curious(actually I'm not sure what his political ideology is) thought I was being serious. But outside those isolated instances, its been pretty much a situation where right of center posters kind of just agree to disagree....like once we hit an impasse, thats it and the matter is dropped.

In fact other than Call It Crazy, there really isn't a right of center poster that blatantly engages in personal attacks. And when they do, like Indigenous, its more of an innocuous term that is used in a derogatory manner like "mutt". Now I do have to exclude people that clearly need medical help like Marcus and Bgmall. While you want to be kinder to people who suffer from mental illness, the nature of internet posting really doesn't allow for that sort of thing. So you feel bad for them, but its kinda a survival of the fittest situation.

Still the personal attacks from the right of center posters are rather far and few between while several left of center posters let the "idiot" "moron" and other similar attacks fly multiple times a day. To be fair, posters like Patrick and Bellingham Bill don't engage in personal attacks and when someone like Ellie does it, its quite clever and really almost artistic. But that doesn't exempt the large numbers of lefties who are quick to let fly the personal attacks. And now I notice another form of this from Dan and Cabroncito, harking back to posting in the mid-late 90's on Newsgroups.....intentionally misquoting others. While entirely unoriginal and passe, these guys think they reinvented the wheel.

So now to my point of this post...anyone else find it funny as hell when they turn the personal attacks on each other?

Well, their libbies, so I'll concede they are tired of patting each other on the back...

They're left with just their liberal buddies, and I suppose they're tired of having circle jerks and patting each other on the back....

Up to the point where the attacks are driven by Iranian SS-18 nuclear tipped Satans programmed for downtown, USA.
Then the humor is lost, somewhat....

When liberals encounter something that contradicts their beliefs that they are the smartest people in the world, they start having twitches, spasms, spittle gagging and go into a Jacksonian march seizure, climaxed by a Tourette's-like barrage of personal insults and imprecations until they are exhausted. Their eyes roll up into their heads. When it's all over, the bad tape that just happened is erased. They are in blissful denial once more, and they go back to thinking they are the smartest people in the world again.

I don't personally attack other people. I'm attacking the whole damn system.

John I feel the same way about this issue. Maybe it's just that us conservative posters are older, so we know how to understand each other better. After all most liberals are very young people, can't expect maturity of a grown adult out of someone much younger who hasn't had any life experience yet.

What do you think?

Mr.Happy says:"I don't personally attack other people."

"Attack" is the Patnet motto. Why do you hate Patnet?

Everyone here is an idiot.

Agreed. Conservative and libertarian leaning people agree to disagree more often without the need for personal attacks. It's a sign of maturity but also tolerance. I would like to say in their defense that the left wasn't always like that, it has gotten progressively worse with the rise of "progressives". In fact true liberals in their original sense were both left and right in many ways. It is a sign of intolerance and totalitarian tendencies to gang up on everyone and everything that does not conform to the politically correct social justice standards du jour. The right has their own controlling and totalitarian zealots, but the powers have long shifted to exploit the progressive left's need to destroy everything on their way to control the populace effectively to the point were any dissenter - even amongst their own - will face societal punishment. They are the ones who are and have been paving the way for an Orwellian state and society, not the right, whose influence has been consistently waning over the past decades.

What planet do you live on? The right wing "conservatives" and "libertarians" claim to desire small non-intrusive government. Yet these same people would fight to the death for the authority of the State to remain so powerful as to own your life. The militant police state thrives from the desires of the freedom loving right wingers

Hey remember the "Fruity Float"?

I think I posted this back when we could moderate our own threads.

Interesting observations I think, in light of recent board events.

When you think you are Enlightened and Have All The Answers To Improve The World, you have a "Get out of my way, retard of Progress! You are halting our inevitable Historical Dialectical Materialist advance towards the Betterment of the Man" attitude.

When you think anything made of Crooked Timber (humanity) will be flawed, you're more genuinely tolerant.
