I would enjoy irritating Ben Affleck with this discussion.

Ignoring for a moment the Islamic fringe elements murdering innocent civilians, I would like to restate that Shariah Law is incompatible with the Bill of Rights. It is NOT a small fraction of Muslims who believe that Shariah trumps our constitution. If Shariah is God's Will and Law, then frankly, well...God isn't welcome here either.

It is not a crime to have a belief or even to profess it. I've met a neo-Nazi or two. But in regards to Shariah, we are talking about a huge percentage of the planet which outwardly believes our rights are anything but inherent. It is appropriate that we have our guard up around those who hold such a disparate view. All of the white supremacists, inquisition hold-outs, and militant Christians on earth combined haven't a prayer of tipping the scales against the Muslim percentage in favor of Shariah Law taking hold in the countries in which they reside.

When Obama says, "It's not who we are" referring to resisting unrestrained immigration, he is quite wrong. It is exactly who we are. It is what we specifically and boldly "declared" when we committed treason ourselves against the British Empire several hundred years ago. What he has forgotten is the American Dream. He likely would paraphrase the inscription on Lady Liberty's tablet if asked to relate it. I suspect he only suffers American nightmares. All that is left of that dream is empty political correctness and feel-good socialism. Even the right assails personal liberty, noninterventionism, border protection and unwavering human rights.

I"m sure his view of what his presidency could be, in 2009, was quite different than if he were running for the presidency for the first time today.
The shock and awe of republican denial of anything and everything 'obama', for whatever reason, has left him a tad bitter. At this stage I would not be surprised if his attitude is "fuck it, lets let the world in through porous borders and shake this fucker to the ground".

True enough. The USA has a long history of restricting immigration into the country. Many laws were directed against the Chinese. Concerns about job taking immigrants, religious bigotry, typically anti-Catholic or anti-Jewish, and mistaken beliefs regarding eugenics, have all contributed to the signing of federal legislation designed to limit immigration. Acknowledging our past runs contrary to BS liberal memes, and so we are bludgeoned with the "always welcoming immigrants" meme from the President and Hillary. I have not yet found federal law restricting the immigration of Mexicans. It would be ironic if there never was such law.

i'm also quite aware that each immigrant group is opposed to the next. but i seriously believe islam is different from all other religions, and that it's not a subtle difference. it's about finally hitting something so indigestible that it threatens the existence of the country itself.

the enlightenment philosophy is "i disagree with your view, but i will defend to the death your right to say it" (usually attributed to voltaire)

the new PC philosophy is "i disagree with your view, but i will defend to the death your right to publicly incite your co-religionists to kill me"

Islam is indeed categorically different according to the data. https://muslimstatistics.wordpress.com/

A shockingly high percentage of Islamic men are rapists, and an even greater percentage reject the laws of their host countries. The statistics prove it.

By contrast, American immigrants throughout the country's history (Irish, German, African, etc) have been very law-abiding on the whole, and there has never been even a small percentage of them roving around in gangs raping women and children. That's unheard of, except with Islam.

In the culture of political correctness, ignorance is power, so the liberal politicians ignore the current Muslim rape epidemic in Europe today in the same way the old media ignored the colonial rape epidemic in Africa's history.
