State faces possible shortage of middle-class workers •  We dont have enough housing. And thats causing an affordability crisis Despite offering higher wages and some of the highest rates of job growth in the nation, California could face a shortage of middle-wage workers as housing costs push residents out in search of affordability, according to a trio of new studies released Thursday.

Im going to ask for a small and reasonable raise soon. If I don't get it, I will be happy to leave The Bay Area.

Alternatively, the whole Tech sector could move to Texas or Florida. But they won't. I don't know why.

Hope you get it. If not, come down to So. Cal.

Well, the good news is all those low and middle wage people are being replaced 2:1 by bizarre third worlders and welfare, workman's comp, and disability cheats.

Did housing become less expensive there recently, somehow I missed that - was never keen on Carson, Wilmington, El Segundo etc. Or is this part of the farewell tour out of state via the scenic route down the Coast Highway and on to see the diverse assortment of ethnic gangs in the greater SoCal area before leaving ?

Funny.
Compared to BA, OC and San Diego are bargains. Anyone with good skills in the tech industry can afford a mid priced home down here.

El Segundo is super nice.

I agree Carson is meh and you live in Willmington if you have a death wish.

Oh, and looks like we just found out why Gov Brown opposed Trumps wall. Someone's gotta live in Wilmington.

they are not bargains, and they will become even less so if jackasses like you keep touting this horseshit.

why can't people just enjoy things, without using the internet and social media to blow shit up and make the whole fucking world's pop come in and over-crowd a place?

11   anonymous   2016 Mar 4, 8:16am

oh my god, what am i doing. i'm a homeowner now. my house is within a planning area that restricts residential density and surrounded by preserve and future parks.

holy fucking shit i'm an anti-patrick.net person now. strategist is a genius. financially i will be so much better off if this area blows up with population growth.

i'm gonna need some time to reflect...

^^^^

Your impressions are several years out of date. Downtown LA, Echo Park, Highland Park, and several other areas have fully gentrified. Silver Lake and Eagle Rock, 1990 era ganglands, are now very high income neighborhoods. A great many formerly terrible neighborhoods including east Hollywood, Boyle Heights, several parts of Long Beach, Van Nuys, and Inglewood are well along the way to gentrification.

Prices are way up, especially on the Westside and south San Fernando Valley, and LA is no longer some crazy dangerous place.

Just don't send them over here, we don't want them.

What about welfare recipients? We have a surplus of those.

The word is already out - it's affordable in SoCal and San Diego. Well, it will be as soon as more of the neighborhoods resemble someplace you wouldn't want to leave you family alone at during the day while you're at work in your high paying tech job.

You can get a beautiful 3 bed condo in Ladera Ranch for $500K. Very desirable location, perfect for kids. A working couple with college education can easily afford that. I don't know why you guys are all up in arms when I say OC and San Diego are a bargain compared to BA.

why you guys are all up in arms

it was muscle memory from when i was a renter, and had to deal with crowds.
