I believe this is a real issue, but I question the conclusion.

Donald Trump, backed by such immigration stalwarts as Sen. Jeff Sessions, represents an existential threat to this abuse. If Trump is elected, immigration policy will be given a going over that it hasn’t had in decades.

THe number of computer science graduates in india and china is what it is. If they make H-1B visas harder for the big players to get, the market will find a way. Probably Facebook and others opening up or expanding software development operations in Asia.

I'm not defending the behavior. Just observing that it's another instance of globalization having it's inevitable impact.

Cutting back on the visa abuses and deceptive practices would be a good thing anyway. Especially for the many smaller abusers who don't have the option of offshoring their software development. Or do they ?

So far that way has been bribing Republican and Democrat politicians to pass H1B laws to eliminate American jobs. Seems like if the problem is political, the solution would be as well.
Go Trump!

I've found the lack of skilled American tech workers to be mind numbing. Every place I've gone to, it's a bunch of shallow knowledge candidates. No one seems to really want to understand technology, they just want the job title.

At my last gig, I was a Sr.Network Engineer for one of the top 3 defense contractors in the US. Some of the other Sr.guys that had been there for 15-20 years didn't even understand basic routing, or even how to reset the passwords on the devices. Instead they would RMA the boxes, knowing cisco would send a new box with a blank config. It was sad.

When i got the chance to full time telecommute, and not have to train people all day, I jumped at it.

Yes there are Tech Poseurs in America, but India has their share of Tech Poseurs too.
