POLITICO: DUMP TRUMP? Exclusive: The mechanics of how it could happen – HUGH HEWITT on Trump: ‘The plane is headed towards the mountain’

DUMP TRUMP? Playbook stipulates this is highly unlikely to happen. But it’s no longer unthinkable that establishment Republicans turn on Trump pre-convention, and seriously ponder a movement to deny him the nomination. Listen to Scott Walker in Wisconsin or Mitch McConnell in the Senate or friends of peeved Speaker Ryan in private, and it’s clear Trump could be one intolerant or toxic statement away from a true revolt.
.
Many top Republicans believe his bad habits and divisive views are incurable. He can barely make it through a day without pissing off key voting groups, or the media, or Republicans.

What are the mechanics of how a Trump revolt COULD happen? A GOP guru who’ll be very involved in the convention tells Playbook:

“The Trump forces DO need to be concerned about a move that respects the primary rules of the 56 states and territories, yet makes his path to the nomination steeper. It’s doubtful that the political will to do this exists, but the Rules require each convention to pass the specific rules that govern its proceedings. Those rules have historically included Rules 40(d) and (e) stating how many votes a candidate needs to receive the nomination. The standard has always been a ‘majority of the delegates’ eligible to vote. When it looked like no candidate would receive a majority of delegates, Donald Trump said a candidate with a ‘plurality’ of votes should be the nominee. He could have achieved this by amending Rules 40(d) and (e).

“BUT, by the same token, ‘majority’ can be amended to ‘60% (or 66.6%) of the delegates on the first ballot and a majority of delegates on any subsequent ballots’ to receive the nomination. The decisions by the individual states to bind their delegates for a certain number of ballots would remain intact. It would take political will (desperation?) not yet seen and should be put in the ‘highly unlikely’ category. Passing that change would require a majority of the Rules Committee members and a majority of the Convention delegates to approve the change and implement it for the roll call.”

You should really consider not "wondering" and start dealing with "facts"... Things will be so much clearer for you!

There are known knowns, known unknowns, and unknown unknowns. Sometimes I wonder why you think everything is a known known. Then, I remember that you are a special kind of stupid. You deserve love and kindness. I'm sending my depak Chopra good vibes your way.

Walker to replace Trump at GOP convention ?

The GOP clearly does not want Trump to be elected. They much rather have Hillary and simply try to obstruct all her policies like they did for eight years under Obama.

However, the GOP isn't going to piss off its entire base by refusing to nominate him at the convention. Oh, they probably could find some legal trickery to do so, but it would destroy their party which is built on conservative yokels' hate and fear. They don't want that hate and fear turned against the GOP itself. They are well aware of the Tea Party threat they created.

Most likely, the GOP and its media allies will simply undermine Trump during the election hoping he'll lose and banking on a one-term Hillary presidency. They will try to make the country as shitty as possible and constantly repeat that the country is in the shits so that they can blame Hillary for every problem they create and every time they shut down the government. This has become a standard play for the GOP.

The worst thing that could happen to the GOP is Trump winning. Then they own all the shit that happens during his administration, and Trump is likely to have policies that are far more at odds with the GOP platform than Hillary would. And the conservative media will not be able to attack Trump to the degree that they have attacked Bill Clinton and Obama and would attack Hillary because doing so would piss off their base.

This is why I'd rather see a Trump (shudder) administration than a Hillary (double shudder) administration. It makes sense to lose a battle to win a war.

Hillary decided a long time ago that America was not ready for a female president, so she's running as the first androgenous president.

While I think that there is a bigger chance that Trump is not nominated than Hillary, neither of these dreamland events is the least likely to happen. It's going to be Trump versus Hillary.

It's because Christian boys have castration anxiety. Margaret Thatcher was ... well ... guess maybe she could use the ladies' room in NC.

Several Muslim countries have already had female prime ministers:

Tansu Çiller, elected prime minister of Turkey, 1993-1996

Benazir Bhutto, elected prime minister of Pakistan 1988-1990, 1993-1996

Mame Madior Boye, appointed prime minister of Senegal, 2001-2002.

Megawati Sukarnoputri, elected president of Indonesia, 2001-2004

Khaleda Zia, elected prime minister of Bangladesh, 1991-1996 and 2001-2006

Sheikh Hasina, elected prime minister of Bangladesh 2009-

Roza Otunbayeva, president of Kyrgyzstan, 2010- 2011
