What is it with Hillary Clinton? What is it about this brilliant and accomplished woman–described by Barack Obama as possibly “more qualified” to be president than anyone in history–that makes so many people certain she is an incurable liar? More than anything else about Clinton – her occasional tin ear for politics, her seeming inability to connect with large crowds, her ultra-cautiousness – it is the trust issue that could yet cost her a general election she should otherwise win, given her opponent’s vulnerabilities.

Plainly put, Clinton herself has kept the issue alive over 25 years of public life, with long-winded, defensive, obfuscating answers to questions that – in politics, if not in law – cry out for a crisp yes or no reply.

Email-gate is only the latest step on this long, winding road. Consider just one brief, recent revelatory exchange with Charlie Rose, in which Rose noted (correctly) that FBI Director James Comey had called her “careless,” and Clinton replied with a flurry of non-responsive words: “Well, I would hope that you like many others would also look at what he said when he testified before Congress, because when he did, he clarified much of what he had said in his press conference.”

“But he said it was sloppy,” Rose persisted.

“No,” Clinton insisted, “he did not.”

Yes, he did, too. Asked to explain what he had intended by the world careless, Comey explained that it was a commonsense term, meant to convey “real sloppiness.” To pretend otherwise is to persist in the pattern that Clinton has followed from virtually the moment she became a national figure in her husband’s first presidential campaign. Over the past quarter century she has all too often offered up pained and partial answers to controversies, too often seeming to hide more than she is willing to reveal, only to find that again and again, the issue blows up in her face.

She is a train wreck happening in real time. Watch and enjoy. For me, it is reminiscent of the lead up to the election of George W. Bush, a past obvious disaster that was elected, nonetheless, and once or twice, depending on your perspective.

That's why Hillary and Bill are so compatible. They both love fucking people then lying about it.

I could be wrong, but I think it's the lying.

Some recent examples... (serious paraphrasing)

"I never sent classified information."
"I only used one device."
"I always supported gay marriage."

It's like her gut reaction to any question is to lie. She'd be much better off if she just stuck to the truth.

I saw an interview of her where the reporter was playing the tape of her (Clinton) saying that she thinks that a marriage is between a man and a woman. Despite the words on the tape, Clinton kept saying she never said that and accused the reporter of twisting her words.

This is beyond lying. And it's stupid! I think she'd be surprised how many people would understand the concept that her opinions on gay marriage evolved over the years and she grew a better understanding of things. It's okay to admit that as a heterosexual, it took some time to understand or appreciate the feelings of homosexuals. Even if you're not trying to be mean or dismissive... Many, if not most, Americans went through a similar evolution of thought. It doesn't make you a bad person. It's makes you real. I think people would have identified with that. But, no. She chose to lie, instead.

Unless she is sitting on some good Donald material, I think she needs to start telling her story in an authentic way. She can't talk exactly like the words that would appear on a resume. People don't buy it, especially young people.

I said it from the beginning that Bernie would be the better choice for the Democrats. AND I've always felt that was the most inherently honest one of the bunch.... Though I disagree with most of his plans... I never doubted that his ideas came from the heart... and out of love for his country.

That said, I will be forced to modify my Bernie opinion if he continues with his unqualified endorsement of Hillary. Whether he ever really stood a chance, we will never know. I think the race was fairly close, especially when you consider the shenanigans that were going on at the DNC (you know, the impartial primary referees), and the whole superdelegate thing.

He got screwed. If he throws his lot in with the Hillary machine of corruption then he pretty much shows that he's as much a part of the establishment as she is. The ends don't justify the means. I understand the importance of a "unified party," but that cannot be allowed to come at the expense of overlooking various dirty, if not outright criminal, acts.

Can somebody post a link to the speech he gave.

What about the possibility that he just thinks Hillary would be much better than Trump for the country, so he now has to swallow a bitter pill and endorse her?

Most people go through a "lying about everything" phase in elementary or middle school. This helps them to discover that this "lifehack" doesn't really work, too hard to maintain and usually backfires somewhat horribly. Apparently, some people never get over this phase and Hitlery is one of them.

Wow Bernie says, "We must elect Hillary Clinton and Tom Kaine" and gets booed by the audience! The democrat audience! Who then chants "we want Bernie?!"
