If they do it this quarter, the announcement will come near the end of July.

This is a hell of a rise on some seriously mild volume.

Yes, up 5% today.

I just don't know how people don't dive in with a 9% yield that is poised to increase.

It's too generous. Probably freaks them out.

"Why you want to give me so much money?!"

I guess the concept of getting money from a business is foreign to too many people these days.

Not that I think this is what's going on, I didn't sell my 200 shares last month when it was going down.

When big fish were getting out either they had inside information on upcoming not-good news, or they just wanted out of a stock that wasn't going to pop any more, and/or wanted out of the carbon-heavy sector altogether.

Yahoo Finance board on ARLP said Trump's appointed ambassador to Canada is the CEO's wife, so there's that . . .

pulling out never even occurred to me with this dividend. I'm up 50% on my initial purchase and up 7% on what I bought on Friday. I'm content to collect that dividend for the next two years.

Alliance Resource Files 8K - Entry Into Definitive Agreement ARLPFont size: A | A | A
5:04 PM ET 7/28/17 | Dow Jones
Alliance Resource Partners L.P. (ARLP) filed a Form 8K - Entry Into a Definitive Agreement - with the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission on July 28, 2017.

On July 28, 2017, Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. (the "Partnership") entered into a Contribution Agreement (the "Contribution Agreement") by and among the Partnership, Alliance Resource Management GP, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company and the managing general partner of the Partnership ("ARLP Managing GP"), Alliance Resource GP, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("ARLP Special GP"), ARM GP Holdings, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("ARMH, Inc."), MGP II, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("MGP II"), and Alliance Holdings GP, L.P., a Delaware limited partnership ("AHGP"), whereby (i) ARLP Managing GP contributed to the Partnership all of its incentive distribution rights representing non-voting limited partner interests in the Partnership (the "IDRs") together with its 0.99% general partner interest in the Partnership in exchange for a non-economic general partner interest in the Partnership and 56,100,000 common units representing limited partner interests in the Partnership (the "ARLP Managing GP Common Units") and (ii) ARLP Special GP contributed to the Partnership its 0.01% general partner interest in the Partnership and its 0.01% general partner interest in Alliance Resource Operating Partners, L.P. ("AROP") in exchange for 7,181 common units representing limited partner interests in the Partnership (the "ARLP Special GP Common Units" and, together with the ARLP Managing GP Common Units, the "Exchange Units," and, the transactions described in (i) and (ii), the "Exchange Transactions"). The general partner interests in the Partnership that were contributed to the Partnership were cancelled by the Partnership, and the only remaining general partner interest in the Partnership is the non-economic general partner interest issued to ARLP Managing GP as described above. In addition, the Partnership cancelled the IDRs following their contribution by ARLP Managing GP. Following the transaction, the Partnership will maintain the 0.01% special general partner interest in AROP contributed to it by ARLP Special GP as noted above.

As a result of the transactions contemplated by the Contribution Agreement, the ARLP Managing GP Units will be held by MGP II, a subsidiary of AHGP that will own ARLP Managing GP as a result of the transactions. ARLP Managing GP will continue to serve as the general partner of the Partnership following the transactions, and no control, management or governance changes will otherwise occur, including with respect to the Partnership's subsidiaries. MGP II adopted the Second Amended and Restated Limited Liability Company Agreement of ARLP Managing GP, dated as of July 28, 2017, a copy of which is filed as Exhibit 3.3 to this Current Report and is incorporated herein by reference to reflect its ownership of ARLP Managing GP. In addition, AHGP and ARMH, Inc. adopted the Amended and Restated Limited Liability Company Agreement of MGP II, dated as of July 28, 2017, a copy of which is filed as Exhibit 3.4 to this Current Report and is incorporated herein by reference to reflect their ownership of MGP II.

The board of directors of ARLP Managing GP (the "Board") delegated to its conflicts committee (the "Conflicts Committee") comprised of independent directors, the authority of ARLP Managing GP to negotiate the terms and conditions of the Exchange Transactions on behalf of the Partnership. Robert W. Baird & Co. Incorporated acted as financial advisor to the Conflicts Committee in connection with the evaluation and negotiation of the Exchange Transactions. On July 28, 2017, Robert W. Baird & Co. Incorporated delivered a fairness opinion to the Conflicts Committee with respect to the transaction. The terms of the Contribution Agreement were unanimously approved by the Conflicts Committee.

The foregoing description of the Contribution Agreement does not purport to be complete and is qualified in its entirety by reference to the complete text of such agreement, a copy of which is filed as Exhibit 10.1 to this Current Report and is incorporated by reference herein.

So they raised the dividend ~15%!!??

I'm showing

Dividend 2.00

Ex-dividend 8-3-17
Pay date 8-14-17

I hope this is accurate. I love iwog

Would be a great time to announce the dividend is being raised.

When would they usually do this, given that they mentioned it after the last distribution?

If they do it this quarter, the announcement will come near the end of July.

Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. (NASDAQ:ARLP) announced a dividend on Friday, July 28th, Fidelity reports. Stockholders of record on Monday, August 7th will be paid a dividend of 0.50 per share by the energy company on Monday, August 14th. The ex-dividend date is Thursday, August 3rd.

Don't regret not adding when it was sub-20, never know what you're getting with these kinds of stocks.

Put my latest 2017 IRA contribution into FXC . . . this pays -0.4% dividend but I like the hedge aspect here. Canadian dollar moves up, I make money, Canadian dollar goes back down, I lose a little here but next time I'm in BC my USD is buying more -- win/win, eh.

(And I *am* leaning towards moving back to WA early next decade, depending on things)

In iwog we trust.

I was scrambling to fund my Robinhood account this afternoon, I wanted to buy a "penny" stock. By ~4pm it was up 20%, and once I had funds in the account, I realize I couldn't purchase it through that brokerage. I contemplated using the funds to buy more ARLP, knowing earnings come on Monday, but I passed. Kinda regretting that now. Could have collected the .50 per share just by holding into next week. And now maybe 10% appreciation

I guess I'll have to fund etrade tomorrow

Looks like Illinois Basin coal prices are still headed downwards, although just barely. Other regions are flat or showing slight uptrends, so hopefully the slight downtrend in the basin is temporary. I've heard people say ARLP has a very low cost of manufacturing - in other words they probably make a good margin on the coal they sell. If so, I would think these slight coal price reductions should affect their profit very little.

https://www.quandl.com/data/EIA/COAL-US-Coal-Prices-by-Region?ref=patrick.net&utm_medium=graph&utm_source=quandl

Good news is that the interior region's (ARLP's turf) production is expected to grow in 2017/2018, according to this:

https://www.eia.gov/outlooks/steo/report/coal.cfm

Also, nat gas prices are expected to uptrend, which I think, is great for coal companies.

Not the greatest smash down earnings

233 errc   2017 Jul 31, 8:10am   ↑ like (0)   ↑ dislike (0)     quote

Our view of the second half of 2017 remains positive. We anticipate that our customers will make up the force majeure tons and deferred shipments I mentioned earlier over the next 6 to 9 months. And with nearly all of our planned production for the year now under contract, we believe coal volumes and revenue should be within our previous guidance ranges for 2017. We expect our strong operating performance to continue, giving us the confidence to confirm ARLP's full year guidance for net income, adjusted EBITDA and distributable cash flow.

We are also pleased that ARLP was able to resume increasing distributions through our unitholders. As previously discussed, we thought ARLP would be in a position to again consider growing unitholder distributions once the previous uncertainty in the debt capital markets was addressed. Completion of our 2025 bond offering and extending our revolving credit facility to 2021 successfully alleviated these debt market concerns, providing ARLP with a stable, long-term capital structure and ample liquidity.

With our conservative balance sheet intact for the foreseeable future and in consideration of our strong performance and positive outlook, the Alliance board selected to meaningfully increase distributions by 14.3% at ARLP and 32.7% at AHGP compared to the 2017 and the sequential quarter. I think that should (inaudible) sequential quarters. I'm optimistic that ARLP's low-cost operations and strong market position will support additional quarterly distribution increases in the future.

:)

DEFINITION of 'Unitholder' An investor who owns one or more units in an investment trust. Units in a trust are treated like shares and unitholders as shareholders.

How low can it go,,,with a double digit dividend, when they're touting additional dividend increases?

I'm curious on this AGHP. It's volume is even lower than ARLP, with a larger dividend

Remember when I first recommended it, the dividend was 25% and the price was $10 a share.

All the news continues to be positive. The export market will continue to grow. ARLP is best of breed and will continue to be run well with low debt.

People get skittish when something seems too good to be true. As soon as all the weak holders are out, it should go up substantially.

And it's still very thinly traded, but the director just bought 10k shares and ownership and institutions are sitting on most of the shares.
