What's up ARLP?

This is a tough stock to buy-and-hold, and tough not to keep buying as I rebalance my positions over time.

This has a liquidation BV of $10 AFAICT, so maybe that trend will continue. If the CEO can establish some position traction on earnings, then we should see another turnaround.

Market doesn't really know, and more people want out than in still . . .

Is this the pre dividend bump or did I miss an upgrade or some news

It's nice that you're not a narcissist and don't start threads flapping your wings and tell everyone how wonderful you are.

Only OTHER posters do that here, right??

I know, right? There’s no difference between posting a play before it happens and simply gloating about a win once the game is over. Losers!!

heh, ignore works again, cool. I gave everyone an amnesty, but I'll re-block whenever I see something that is so stupid it damages my IQ too.

^ I violated a rule with ARLP, add to a losing position.

But the intangibles with this stock are hard to figure. CEO's wife is Ambassador to Canada, indicating deep connections with our corrupt Administration.

We've got the Energy Secretary proposing coal subsidies, and head of the EPA trying to shitcan Obama's carbon pollution controls.

And a company by all apparent measures is solid financially.

Illinois Basin coal prices have ticked up a bit, which seems to often happen at the start of October, historically. Let's hope it keeps goin up - the current prices are pretty low.

I suck at trading, rather have the $4000 in WFC-L earning 5.5% w/ no potential for equity gain, pure dividend play

Convertible preferred, very similar to BAC-L.

http://www.quantumonline.com/search.cfm?tickersymbol=WFC-L&sopt=symbol

Wachovia floated these in April 2008, paying 7.5%, convertible into 32 shares of Wachovia common. After WFC took over WB later in the crisis in 2008, this turned into 6.3814 shares of WFC common if & when WFC common goes over $200.

Personally I’m fine with the price going down, so I can buy more. The dividend seems safe either way

Sorry, but that's NOT a cup with handle. From the long-term chart, ARLP hit the downtrend resistance and came back down. If you think $17.65 is the bottom, its short-term uptrend is still intact and this is a good place to add to your position. This stock as well as AHGP will break one way or another in the coming months. Hopefully they will break out instead of breakdown.

Good luck with the trade.

ARLP unitholders will receive a cash distribution for the 2017 Quarter of $0.505 per unit (an annualized rate of $2.02 per unit), payable on November 14, 2017 to all unitholders of record as of the close of trading on November 7, 2017. Why would you celebrate that?

I mean, I know it’s because you guys are jealous, but I’d be happy to hear your bullshit excuse.

How fucking partisan and petty does one have to be to celebrate someone else’s stock going down in price. Speaks volumes about you

You shouldn't be watching it day to day. Losers do that.

Give it some time and let it play out.

Jealous that he picked losers? Don't think so, smart maybe.

Why do facts upset you? How much did you lose following his advice?

Well he recommended it ~11$

I think i bought in ~12.50

A year + of 10% dividend

So up 50% + a 10% dividend is a loser in your book, then it seems that you don’t know what you’re talking about. Maybe you don’t have any money to invest in this 8+ year raging bull market which would explain why you’re so ornery.

C'mon now Iwog is the one obsessively willing to go years deep in patnet history just to rub a bad call into someone's face. This was a mild spontaneous tongue in cheek comment on his suboptimal call, but really just a fun answer to fwm's comment. As a libertarian I am the least jealous of anyone's wealth, good for them, incl. Iwog. However if you dish out like him you naturally attract a couple of return volleys.

It's near the 52wk low so it's not a good play for more than a year already. If you bought on early at the great lows then congrats. Divy is always good. Not saying it's trash but it's certainly not good enough for Iwog to boast about now. I made and make plenty of mistakes and have readily posted some here, something the duck never did. Maybe he's that brilliant but again the point was that this talk invites return volleys. No ill will intended here, really.

You guys are talking like its over but...just to clarify...

Earlier I was asking about the NAC not ARLP. Simply because I was getting different dividend readings on different platforms.

ARLP has a nice hefty dividend and at this point there are plenty of actual losers in the market. Market at record highs but what about DIS, Costco, KR...there is a long list of big losers. Seems like only a handful of stocks are actually moving the market up. If you own those then awesome, if you don't...then not so awesome.

We'll see how it plays out over the next 1-2 years...a bit early to call anyone wrong here - having said that, curious what iwogs thinking these days with the market where it is ...etc
