Old enough for life imprisonment and trial as adult, not old enough for sex

A 14-year-old girl committed a horrible crime. She severely assaulted and almost murdered a 15-year-old girl. And this was an intentional first-degree murder attempt. Yes, this girl is evil and/or crazy. She's being tried as an adult in Wisconsin. She's considered mentally competent and intellectually and emotionally mature enough to be considered an adult when it comes to defending herself in a criminal trial that could result in her spending the rest of her life in prison -- thankfully Wisconsin does not have the death penalty -- but she's not intellectually or emotionally mature enough to consent to sex unless the partner is also under 18. How the fuck does that make sense?

And yes, this is a very bad person. Don't take this as condoning her horrendous crime. But if she can be tried as an adult for attempted murder, then why isn't she an adult in the eyes of the law when it comes to her sex life? How is this not utter hypocrisy?

Here's the story from various sources.

Okay, kid... psychopaths don't often self-declare. To them, the feelings are normal... the inability to "walk in someone else's shoes" or form normal relationships doesn't seem strange to them. That's not to say that over time a person couldn't learn to recognize their behavior as psychopathic... But at best it's only because they are parroting what they hear from therapists.... The very nature of being a psychopath is an inability to see how other people feel; how you are perceived by others, if you will, as a hallmark of the condition is antisocial, often violent, behavior. So, it would be a special gift, indeed, for a psychopath to be so in touch with her feelings about others that she recognizes right off the bat that she has none. In other words, most don't come out of the gate, identifying as a psychopath who must experience her first kill. It would be more believable if she said she had violent thoughts that made her do it.

Me thinks, she likes the idea of being a psychopath... and wants to be famous for it. A modern day Lizzy Borden with her own reality tv program.
