For his big, beautiful wall!
Turns out the cartels have banked billions that the US government can seize but hasn't because the money is tied to Mexican politicians. Obama was afraid of offending his fellow kleptocrats, but Trump will order the Treasury to seize the billions and use it to build the wall!
And he will consult top border patrol to see which places need the wall most. It's not going to be the whole 1900 miles of wall, maybe a third of that.

And I'm thinking the apprehended border hopping Mexicans can be used to build it. And chain gangs of Mexican criminals!
Glorious!

2   zzyzzx   2016 Sep 1, 8:13pm

I'd be OK with taxing Western Union remittances going to Mexico, and an extra tariff from goods coming into the US from Mexico until the wall is paid off.

3   marcus   2016 Sep 1, 8:46pm

Just to be clear, you understand that the number of illegal mexican immigrants in the country is down from 2007 ? That is, the total in the country is lower now than it was then.

Got to hand it to Trump. He's really impressive with his choice of issues. Immigration and his wall are totally irrelevant, but they excite a big part of his base ( uneducated white dimbulbs).

Are you implying, 11 million illegals is no big deal? Really?

That sounds par for the course for ol' Marcus.

No, I'm stating that it hasn't been increasing for a long time.

Do you think it's logical to build a wall, when the net influx of immigrants is zero, or maybe even negative ? It's bullshit PR and nothing more for gullible haters. The smarter half of Trump supporters totally know this, and think it's awesome that he can get KKK members to vote for him making it possible that he might win.

THey're wrong. It's not possible, but it's true that the racist votes make it way closer to possible. It's gotta suck to be the Donald when he realizes this is true. Presumably, the end justifies the means ?

The reason for a stagnant number of illegals is due to the weak economy since 2007. As soon as the economy rebounds, illegal immigration will rebound too.
Therefore it makes sense to build a wall.

In my first 90 days, actual war with Mexico.

I feel safer already!

Tell Trump he will need to ask for more security again. El Chapo's family won't be tweeting this time.

Except for the Asian illegals. They are coming by plane and boat. We will just build the WALL REALLY HIGH! ... and and ... in WATER too! Make it go, all the way! ... all the way ... all the way ...

And the more prosperous we become, we can upgrade the wall more: machine gun towers, and armor. It's like a giant tower defense game! This is going to be so cool.

That's Trump's solution to increase jobs, and provide for veterans. Border security jobs for all vets.

Libbies: "Oh NOZ! We might enforce our immigration laws and secure our borders! That's racist!"

This is stupid even for you. I'm all for enforcing our immigration laws. OBama's approach is what Trump is ultimately going to be for.. Obama increased border patrols and deportation of illegals with criminal records. If Trump builds a wall in certain parts of the border, it will be symbolic. It changes nothing, except the ways in which we secure our borders. If it ends up that we spend less on border patrols because of the amount spent on the wall, it will have the opposite of the intended effect.

What is it about Trump that helps certain people get in touch with their inner moron ?

Starting with jailing people who hire illegals. Then we wouldn't need a wall because no one would hire illegals. They would all go home on their own. Funny the donald doesn't mention this. Neither do all bought and paid for conservative politicos along with their true masters the people funding the conservative movement who are always screaming for more and more border protection. All the while employing millions of illegals on the cheap. Do you think it might all be a sham to keep the sheeple sucked into the conservative line while the 1% rake in the bucks? Na, that couldn't be could it? Well maybe it could be.

President Trump won't build a garden wall at the white house never mind a border wall. But it sounds good to the rubes.

Sure! But neither party wants that, least of all your Democrats. Even Trump, maverick that he is, would probably balk at such a line of enforcement. Is there any other country that puts people in jail for providing employment? Might be a slippery slope with lots of unintended consequences.

How many illegal Asians are there? Not enough for there to be a problem.

16   BayArea   2016 Sep 2, 6:54am

I find it surprising how many people I encounter on the Peninsula (work, social functions, etc) that think 11M illegal immigrants and open borders is a none issue...

Many of these people live in San Carlos, Belmont, Burlingame, but no matter, they are quick to point out how their 7-fig shelters don't show any sign of being affected by illegal immigration.

Glad you asked. According to Google, here is how illegal immigrants break down in the USA:

52% - Mexico
26% - Latin American Countries other than Mexico
12% - Asia
5% - Europe
3% - Africa
2% - Other

I would bet most are visa overstays. Also curious how many cross the Mexican border illegally into US

The people buying homes with ill-gotten gains are still considered legal immigrants.

So what do you think of close friends of yours (or maybe even you yourself) that have hired undocumented people for gardening (lawn services), or as a house cleaner or nanny ? I can't claim to have never done it.

Who is going to do that work ? The existence of undocumented workers in this country is very much a "market" phenomenon. When you have both husband and wife working , they often want (or need) to hire help for their home or a nanny.

I know your answer - put some of those lazy sloths on welfare in those jobs. That's easier said than done, and isn't realistic. THe pay would have to go up substantially for that kind of work. It would price a lot of people out if having a nanny. And what would happen to food prices ?

Did you ever read about what happened to farm business in Alabama when they cracked down on illegal immigration ? https://mic.com/articles/8272/alabama-illegal-immigrant-crackdown-destroys-farm-business#.Cwcstqkrw

Wake up to reality ZZYZZX. This issue is mostly just a way to trigger racists.

28   Shaman   2016 Sep 2, 11:01am

We have 92 million adults not working in the USA. Seems like we could incentivize at least eleven million of them to pick lettuce, wash cars, and mow lawns, either by offering something or taking something away. Welfare needs to be harder to get. Democrats have enabled generational welfare because it guarantees them voters.
That needs to stop.
We have plenty of potential low wage workers who already live here. Controlling our borders is just common sense for any nation that intends to stick around.

Great argument

Consider Georgia and Alabama farms. Seems like tough illegal immigrant work laws didn't work out too well there.

Evidence and proof trumps "seems like."

31   anonymous   2016 Sep 3, 6:48pm

I agree with some "liberal" ideas when it comes to leaving religion and morals out of it and being environmentally friendly, but their platform around the whole immigration issue is pathetic. Stop being such pussies and sniffing illegal immigrant farts, and enforce the fucking law! You're gonna swamp the boat here in the US if you don't grow some balls.

32   MisdemeanorRebel   2016 Sep 3, 6:52pm

Oh, so that's why the banks are so against him. It won't be like HSBC, a wrist slap fine, some delayed bonuses, and the whole incident about knowingly assisting in the laundering of massive amounts of cash.

Perfect. Multi dimensional ignorance. There are 42 million of the 92 million that are retired. Should they be picking lettuce and mowing lawns with their walkers and wheelchairs? How about the 15 million students? Give up college and wash cars? The 20 million homemakers? Should they strap the kids on their backs and find the nearest bunch of transient veggie pickers?

Clinton and Gingrich killed generational welfare in 1996. You didn't get the memo?

Maybe paying something more than sub minimum wage with no benefits for hard physical work might be the incentive needed. Say it ain't so joe.

They can definitely get mexico to "pay" for the wall, if elected, but I doubt it would be helpful to the US.

Given that the US has a 58 billion trade deficit with mexico. If they shut down the border for 65 days, that would be a loss of 10.4 billion.

Assuming that a wall could be built for that sum, mexico would therefore be "paying for a wall"
