Probably true, but it's also likely because as people pass 70 they have less of the drama in their lives that is so appealing to audiences. Who cares if an 85 year old man is hitting on an 83 year old lady and his 90 year old neighbor is insanely jealous? There have actually been a couple of Information Discovery true stories about an ancient lady in assisted living murdering her ancient boyfriend because he had transferred his affections to another ancient lady--but who'd care? Just the thought of the smell and the bedpans would be enough to turn most people off. Every so often there is an inspirational movie about an old person who does something heroic or overcomes some obstacle, but they're pretty few and far between--Return to Bountiful comes to mind, also something with a title like No Place for Old Men or something similar.
They've got good jobs and are more in demand than ever.
It has never been a better time to be a talented career professional over 50 ever in American culture.
Since we started this Cult people over 40 were discarded to make way for the new hope and promise of bright talented young people.
The young today want to make millions selling cupcakes and a lemonade stand.
Old money isn't asking them important business decisions and more than ever the important key roles are older workers with experience and know how.
Hollywood should remember the young more and more are having to ask mom and pops for the keys and some money to see these movies.
it wont be the kids that eventually boycott them. It will be Mom and Dad cutting Jr off.
