When the bad guys and mentally ill don't have guns, the cops tend not to shoot as much. They also don't tend think that other objects the bad guys are holding are guns also. Pretty stupid conclusions by the author of the article to say it's a training issue.

How many times have you seen Judge Dredd? 800? 11,000?

From what I understand the cops are trained to shoot more than in other countries.

The number one transgression is that the public are the enemy.

And not in listening skills as most of the suspects are distraught. Point being as stated in the article the police in the US killed 400 people last year compared to Germany where they killed 4

Apparently the length of training isn't as egregious as the article indicates as they don't mention on the job training but rather they are trained in the wrong way to go about things.

That too

None the less the cops are getting a bad wrap regarding the blacks.

That's because cops are shot AT more than in other countries.

That would be an interesting statistic to see.

listening skills

That's the problem, in just about 100% of these incidents, the perps DIDN'T listen to the cops and follow directions, primarily because they are PAST convicted felons and don't give a shit about laws and authority.

My experience with cops is that listening is not there strong suit. In any case I do have to point out that 400 for the US and 4 for Germany indicates there is more to this story than the perps not listening.

Patriot Act & NDAA are excellent reasons to trust anyone in law enforcement.

Actually there's not and viewing COPS bears this out. It strikes me as odd that we have 25 years of recorded evidence of non compliance of US subjects and people don't cite it. Worse yet the few imbecile non US posters on this site have actually denied its existence.

In addition to prevalence of illegal guns(almost entirely due to lax punishment of illegal gun possession as I've pointed out many times before), I'd wager that the following are also part of the US:

-more untreated mental illness
-higher prevalence of public use of drugs such as PCP
-willingness of criminals to run from police.
-willingness of criminals to attack police(though Europe is starting to get a dose of things with all the Muslim immigrants.

I don't think training cops not to shoot will do anything but embolden criminals. The US truly is different than other Western societies and the price we pay for private citizens owning guns is that police will kill people more often, almost always in legally justified ways.

That may be true, but ALL of your statement is conjecture.

Dumb fuck John really lives up to his name. His are some of the most UnAmerican thoughts I come across on PatNet. Take that crap to whatever third world shithole you came from, please.

"Oh, I been watching COPS on tv for 25 years like a certified loser, so cops never lie. And if they gun down a citizen in cold blood, it was justified, because I'm too stupid to understand anything other than what The State tells me"

Hell, he's so dumb, I'd wager that he cashes a government check. Zero chance he has anything to offer the private sector.

Police in this country used to be like the rest, but once the War on Us started, policing became about stats, and citizens turned into numbers. Eliminating quotas would be a start, but obviously training in this country is extremely lax, and there needs to be more emphasis on weeding out sociopaths, and prosecuting bad cops. With the toxic culture that now exists in the police force, it's a wonder pre-crime offenders aren't being shot on site.
