After six long years the freezing compartment in our old Samsung refrigerator/freezer went out because of an insulation problem. We could have called a repairman to fix it. (Elena's preferred method.) I decided that we needed a new fridge. Elena asked me to hold off on buying it for a few months. I was concerned about the outcome of the presidential election. In my mind, if Trump won,we might not have the money to buy a new refrigerator. I decided that it was "now or never." The new Samsung refrigerator/freezer arrived yesterday. There was some suspense as to whether it would fit into the space occupied by the old refrigerator/freezer as it is larger. It does fit. Forever this new refrigerator/freezer will be known as "Our Donald Trump icebox!" Elena wanted to imbed an unflattering picture of Donald Trump in the front of the new unit.

I see he's already having a negative effect on our trade balance as people rush to buy things before the collapse. Maybe the economy will perk up a bit. He'll claim that it's because people are excited about winning. I hope your ice chest brings you pleasure and fresh food.

At least he got 6 years out out ot it. I only got 5 years out of my Obama GE Profile.
I replaced it last month with a Trump Samsung Fridge as well. I'm quite pleased with it. and I think a flattering picture of the donald on the door would be a perfect fit.

That Samsung crap is junk

Everything is junk today everything. Our $2400 GE Profile we bought in 2012 just quit working.
Hopefully Trump will be back American pride and great American engineers will step up and design products worthy of the Made in Ameirca moniker that any sensible person would buy over any other brand. But as it is now our once glorious American brands are pure grade Shit made in Mexico and countries we bombed the shit ouf of to make lower wages.

We also bought a Whirlpool Washer($800) less than 4 years ago. Just replaced that last month as well. The lid latch went bad, and it already had metal cancer on the front of the washer anyway.
We also replaced that with a front loader Samsung.

The Jump from $1000 to $2400 doesn't by you quality, it buys extra features, design, and it's partly positional spending.

Still, I'd take a refrigerator today over any old beast from 25 yrs ago. Even if I replaced it in 6 yrs, relative to the old beast, it would have saved me enough in electricity to buy a new one, and it would have also saved me on noise, my air conditioning bill, and allowed me to build cabinets more closely around the fridge. Why buy a product that is going to last 25 yrs, when there might be a much more efficient model on the market in 10? Now, the efficiency gains will not be as much going forward, so I expect that manufacturers will start focusing on reliability when people start wanting it more.

If you just want something that keeps your crap cold, theirs a huge surplus of working but inefficient crap on the used market for $100.

A new fridge uses $55/yr in electricity at $0.12 / kWhr, and a 1980s fridge took $250. If you are in CA with a marginal rate of $0.36, that is $165/yr, and $750/yr.

It doesn't matter if Trump or Clinton get elected. This countries problems aren't caused by one person, this may come as a shock to many.
I'll be blaming everything on the next president.

We all know that the voters can't be held responsible.

OUCH - another I'm glad to be in Texas. We deregulated electric rates a couple decades ago, I now SHOP for my electricity. Presently I'm paying $0.067 / kWhr.

The 30 year old Amana on the patio has chugged along while it watched Three Fridges leave this house sideways.

Does Samsung offer a line in "Trump Orange"?

We lost the war on drugs.
All manufacturing jobs are occupied by doped up people.
Refrigerators are collateral damage.

Put a kW meter on it for a couple of weeks, and let us know what it's costing you.
