Many undergraduates, their fawn-like eyes wide with astonishment, are wondering: Why didnt the dean of students prevent the election from disrupting the serenity to which my school has taught me that I am entitled? Campuses create safe spaces where students can shelter from discombobulating thoughts and receive spiritual balm for the trauma of microaggressions. Yet the presidential election came without trigger warnings? The morning after the election, normal people rose some elated, some despondent and went off to actual work. But at Yale, that incubator of late-adolescent infants, a professor responded to heartfelt notes from students in shock by making...

It makes this positively scary: "The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next." - Abraham Lincoln

Of course. More of "the Trump phenomenon is the liberals fault." I'm no fan of the SJWs and third wave feminists. But they don't dominate the colleges to the degree George WIll would like to say.

But it is true that a majority of academics do fall on the left side of the political spectrum. Wouldn't it be convenient for conservatives if you could box all intelligent liberals together with the flakiest radical ones ?

Sort of like it would be convenient if liberals could conclude that all republicans are racist, fascist, authoritarian haters. OF course many who deny it are, but that's beside the point.

Excellent article!

Academia should consider how it contributed to, and reflects Americans’ judgments pertinent to, Donald Trump’s election. The compound of childishness and condescension radiating from campuses is a constant reminder to normal Americans of the decay of protected classes — in this case, tenured faculty and cosseted students.

As “bias-response teams” fanned out across campuses, an incident report was filed about a University of Northern Colorado student who wrote “free speech matters” on one of 680 “#languagematters” posters that cautioned against politically incorrect speech.

I disagree. Their views utterly dominate nearly all colleges. Even the Stanford Review, a conservative paper at Stanford, a fairly conservative school, decided against inviting Milo Yiannopoulos to speak for fear of offending people.

That's your proof ? Look, I find Milo entertaining at times, but he's intentionally antagonistic and intentionally more obnoxious than a lot of the trolls on this anonymous forum are (myself included). His "dangerous faggot tour ?" He even describes himself as a provocateur.

A School doesn't have to be dominated by leftist extremists, to choose not to invite him. That choice might intelligently be made simply to avoid bringing attention to the lunatic minority they have at Stanford, as has occurred elsewhere. It's sort of a form of protecting and coddling the children - but it's also a protective PR move - to not put the loons on display.

Your point would be like saying that the united states is dominated by BLM activists, just becasue the government takes some steps to prepare for or avoid riots in the future. Even vocal minorities have to be dealt with and treated as if they exist.

You confuse existence with dominance. But this is normal for a conservative. You would like all of the liberals that are smarter than you (I'm not saying all or even most are - but I wonder whether you can even admit that some are ?), to be boxed together with the loony and or violent authoritarian ones.
