Those dead people in Istanbul, killed by Muslims dressed as Santa just hours ago, don't matter and are not mentioned on NPR, because they conflict with NPR's extreme political correctness.

On the other hand, NPR is currently covering Black Entertainment Television's award ceremony as one of the top stories of today, along with exaggerated claims of police racism curiously lacking all details. That helps NPR to divide the American public and to attempt to make innocent white people feel guilty for things their ancestors had nothing to do with. Their goal is to spread hate to get the public to fight each other. Divide and conquer.

NPR does not serve the public. It is at this point mostly a harm to America and should be de-funded.

Great post.

What can be done about NPR?

It's simply propaganda lately. Now that I see how consistently anti-white racist and anti-American it is, I want to do whatever I can to get rid of it.

I'd keep the show "Marketplace" but that's because it seems to be the only show on NPR which does not go on about race over and over and over and over.

Hmmm, could we have a radio station which simply points out what NPR does not?

"Stories NOT on NPR Today" has an OK ring to it.

It's from American Public Radio, isn't it? I don't know what the relation with NPR is.

I also like Car talk (now only reruns, but still good) and some of the Fresh Air shows. Who's Line It Is sometimes too.

Used to like DecracyNow, but have been disappointed lately.

I don't know which NPR station you are listening to, or what program, but this was on NPR. Higher body count in NPR's coverage though.

Turkey Nightclub 'Terror Attack' Leaves At Least 35 Dead, More Than 40 Wounded

At least 35 people were killed and more than 40 others wounded during New Year's celebrations Saturday after a gunman dressed in a Santa Claus costume opened fire at an Istanbul nightclub, Turkish state media reports.

Provincial Gov. Vasip Sahin has described the incident as a terrorist attack.

"A terrorist with a long-range weapon ... brutally and savagely carried out this incident by firing bullets on innocent people who were there solely to celebrate the New Year and have fun," Sahin told reporters.

...

Turkey, which is part of the U.S.-led coalition against Islamic State has faced numerous security threats. In all, there have been at least six attacks in Turkey this year, claiming more than 200 lives.

Meantime, the White House is condemning the attacking, calling it a "horrific terrorist attack" and offering to assist Turkey.

I like Marketplace, All Things Considered, All Tech Considered, Science Friday, and the Diane Rehm Show, and to some extent On Point. All of these are national programs, but individual stations either opt in for them or don't.

I don't care for the local content. I'd probably hate the local content of California NPR. A lot of leftist hippie crap. The South Florida NPR content simply bores me. But other than that, WLRN is a good station. You should get your wife to try that instead of west coast NPR. You probably will find it far less objectionable.

The online streaming is at http://player.wlrn.org/ and their website is at http://wlrn.org/.

Which shows in particular? Are you talking about local content or the national syndication? I haven't heard that on any of the shows I mentioned. I'd be pissed off if I did.

There is already one. It's called RT News. It's always good to have multiple sources.

OK, it did make it to npr.org hours after all other media were covering it.

Wish I'd gotten a screen shot back just before 6pm California time to show there was absolutely nothing about it on npr.org even though the murders happened at about 2:15pm California time.

Maybe everyone in the news dept had the night off for New Year's Eve.

I wouldn't take that as evidence of covering up. NPR and PBS tend to be slower to report all news because they don't want to make mistakes. In contrast cable news jumps on every potential news story like it's a free hooker.

The only country where it's customary to see people in Santa suites for New Year celebrations is Russia. The rest of the world does this for X-mas.

Just sayin'....

And why do you care. You are listening to breitbart anyways. Leave NPR for us

Oh Really?
I find it very odd that that by time Breitbart became relavant and I stumbled on them as my source of news. Was purely because they were the only one covering Trump. The media were ridiculing him setting up the clown show. Breitbart ruined a multi billion dollar polticl Pagaent that has been paid for and planned since the last days of 2012.
But by time I found Breitbart, much of what they were saying about everyone else that wasn't Trump. We had already discussed here. 90% of MY posts from Breitbart that are non Trump related. I post here as a "HA!!! SEE!!! I told you so!". None of their reporting is a revalation for Patrick or most readers here that read a wide range of poltical leaning posts. Though it is refreshing to finally see it in print on legitimate web sites rather than underground leaks, tweets and far right watch dog sites, that only present one and one side only.

NPR et al. are also obsessed now with the "Alt-Right". The "infighting" at the Alt-Right seems to be very important for NPR to cover..

Did it every occur to you that just because you didn't hear the story while you were in the kitchen for 30 seconds watching your wife make Top Ramen for dinner (again), that it doesn't mean they aren't covering it?

And that not hearing NPR say EXACTLY what you want to hear EXACTLY when you want to hear it doesn't mean NPR should be immediately defunded?

NPR is obviously biased. Yes, they should be defunded. We don't need it, because we have thousands of better radio stations.

Which is why Rin listens to NPR and PBS. He likes quality, and takes his time in the vetting process :)

Or maybe NPR is not like a CNN breaking news kind of organization. It's more a middle ground between podcasts and news.
It's not a fair comparison.

Jam the signal. All you would need is a small transmitter nearby. Something like a Mr microphone and a small radio tuned to another station should do it. Something like that.

They are barely funded by government, if at all. They run on donations. Is it left leaning? Maybe?

Maybe?

But more practically, I've read that NPR was actually defunded to a large degree because of conservative protest of their obvious biases, resulting in their dependence upon large donations by Soros and similar far left people, making the problem even worse.

NPR is very selective about news or how they represent them.

I truly do believe patnet is the last ounce where political discussion is free.

In that that case there should be no problem completely cutting off government funding.
I am an independent who leans liberal, but don't believe the government should be funding radio stations.
