Russians use Ukrainian engines for their helicopters and aircraft, Ukrainian turbines for their navy ships,Ukrainian guidance systems for their ICBMs, Ukrainian hydraulics for their jet fighters (well, used to until they attacked their biggest arms/components supplier). Heck some Russian ICMBs (SS-18) entirely designed, manufactured and maintained by Ukrainian company. Same for air-to-air missiles (R-27) carried by Su-27/35....
The fact that some pre-2014 Ukrainian sotware was used by Russian intelligence is no different from the fact that Russian helicopters barrel-bombing women and children in Aleppo have pre-2014 Ukrainian engines. Neither can be used as "proof that Russkies dindunuffin".
Great post, Thunderlips. I've been waiting for some proper analysis.
StrawMan -- I can't guess what it is you THINK you are trying to say in post 1. My head hurts just from reading it.

Hey Strawman, What are Saudis doing with Obama-provided Cluster Bombs in Yemen? Are marketplaces and residential buildings just "Military Targets"?
"White Phosphorus is just for illumination". Great, fire some WP rounds near your children and see what happens.
Here's an analysis of a sample of a "Russian" hack attack provided by DHS/DNI.
It used Ukrainian donationware freely available for download, bitcoin donations preferred. Links to download sites at the link.
15% of the IPs used for the attacks were Tor nodes
The #1 IP location was the USA, followed by Russia, Netherlands, Germany and France.
About half of the IPs were currently active, and were associated with millions and millions of brute force and complex attacks in the past 60 days.

Looks like we got the DNI/DHS version of Regime Defectors.
