Ford (F) CEO Mark Fields said the investment is a "vote of confidence" in the pro-business environment being created by Donald Trump. However, he stressed Ford did not do any sort of special deal with the president-elect.

"We didn't cut a deal with Trump. We did it for our business," Fields told CNN's Poppy Harlow in an exclusive interview Tuesday.

The $700 million investment will go to the Flat Rock, Michigan plant to produce more electric and self-driving cars. Ford believes electric vehicles will outsell gas-powered vehicles within the next 15 years.

Ford is planning to roll out seven new electric vehicles in the next five years, including a Mustang Hybrid.

And 700 is much better than 0. Plus the property taxes, local jobs serving the factory, a big utility customer, etc. etc.

SMART Ford, they know many of their potential customers are America Before Neoliberal Dogma types.

Do you see how threats on tariffs work? Blabbing about inevitability and nothing can be done because Globalization is a natural, inevitable force pushed and plotted by MNCs and their bribed politicians to create new legistlation favorable to in and out sourcing, does not cause Companies to think twice.

3   HEY YOU   2017 Jan 3, 11:25am

Someone has got to make another 600 jobs to balance the 1300 Carrier jobs trump sent to Mexico.

HEY YOU says

Someone has got to make another 600 jobs to balance the 1300 Carrier jobs trump sent to Mexico.

You mean the 100s of jobs he saved? The attempt which Hillary and Obama and the MSM dismissed as trying to fight the inevitable march of fuck you Redneck Rust Belt America?

5   anonymous   2017 Jan 3, 12:08pm

Wow 700 jobs? That's fairly insignificant.

Especially considering that Trump is planning on destroying a multi billion dollar domestic industry, that will cost us over 1,000,000 jobs.

6   anonymous   2017 Jan 3, 12:19pm

700 jobs is #HighEnergy ?

On what planet?

In a nation of 325,000,000 + people, the president dabbling in the business of only 700 sounds more like an act for the SJWs

Jobs are lost usually a few hundred at a time. They'll come back a few hundred at a time.

Nice to see somebody giving a shit.

You can't have a nation of 350M people all Electrical Engineers, Doctors, Lawyers, and Non-Profit Admins. Gotta have lower-middle range industrial jobs to keep the middle class.

Wait--I thought Trump wasn't President yet? Or is that only the excuse for the bad things? For good things, he is President?

Don't forget baristas!
Obama built that.

So your solution is to use The State to subvert The Market?

To overpay a small handful of people to stand around the factory watching the machines do all the work?

You sound like the new iteration of the 90's Clintonites supporting a government created/managed New New New Economy.

If you actually cared about the economy and jobs, you would be addressing the 900 ton elephant in the room. No big surprise that you Trumpkins miss this

Carrying on about 700 jobs when there's a very simple, wholly American way to bring back millions of jobs knocking down the front door, is what SJW dreams are made of

You're conflating the Pressure of his Election, with the things he can formally do as President.

You mean "To pay a living wage to Americans to do the job, instead of outsourcing the work to near slave labor in a country where Environmental Standards are a joke, the Police burn College Students at the orders of Mayors, and Union Leaders mysteriously disappear. Or where anti-suicide netting is necessary under Dormitories to prevent mass suicide."

Why not replace many taxes with a tariff? If you support moving jobs abroad, you pay extra.

It's a radical idea first Proposed by George Washington's cabinet, called the Hamiltonian System, and was in effect for about 150+ years.

Bring back the All-American, Historical Tariff, removed by the deliberate political machinations of Multi National Corporations, lobbyists, think tanks, the media and politicians in a multi-decade, calculated multi-billion dollar effort 120% manmade and not at all "natural"

13   anonymous   2017 Jan 3, 1:39pm

If your desire was to revive the domestic economy through good paying jobs, you would have to have Cannabis decriminalization front and center as your top priority.

It checks all your boxes.

Brings back all the cultivation and production jobs that The State chased to Mexico and Canada.

Environmentally friendly. The current system is very inefficient. If some Great American has to transport dry flowers from 3,000 miles away, when anyone could just as easily grow their own, causes tons of unnecessary pollution. That it must be hidden out of sight, creates unimaginable costs, especially when anyone could simply grow it themselves on the back porch, or in the garden.

Yet your solution is "2 bild da wahl becuz that will keep the drugz out". Grow a brain

LOL! That is what American gubmnt working for the people looks like. You want something, you work for it, negotatite, push hard and do it-not sit on the sidelines and scream like you-that is an SJW.

I think the people who did not vote for trump are beginning to go nuts. He is doing much more than other Presidents and doing stuff-before he steps into office. So they go nuts and into bizarre explanations. If this si dem strategy-they will stay in the minority for a long , long time. trump helped create a climate to bring jobs back-dems to the workers and family-you nuts are entitled SJW freaks. Bye bye dems.

at least trump persistently puts a negative image on companies planning to ship job out of the countries. Obama ignores the issue and makes excuses when asked.

he and Failary were hired to push globalization.

as long as money keep rolling in his oversea accounts and there are mysterious people buying copies of his shitty, me-poor-black-man auto biography he'll follow his bosses order.
