Anyone here do crossfit for physical fitness? If so, what's your experience and do you like it?

I've been doing typical weight training/cardio for a few years now and am pretty bored with it. Crossfit looks like a good option, other than the pretty high monthly cost.

Would like to hear some thoughts/reviews/experiences.

Any HIIT training would do. Dont recommend kipping pull ups or doing power cleans when fatigued, which are exercises contained in some of the WODs. Not all crossfit boxes encourage good technique and have people skilled in teaching olympic lifts.

Probably good to continue what you're doing and/or reduce slightly/add HIIT workouts to mix.

Best HIIT workouts are probably sprints on a track, but there is a bit of a learning curve.

Daily pullups, a 7 mile run on the weekend, and biking to and from work works pretty well for me

I can't imagine long runs, as well as most cardio excercises that strain the body for extended periods of time being good for you. I think they lead to premature aging.

Eat super clean, 30 min of cardio a day, lift every other day

But my fellow fitness friends do like cross fit as they were bored with traditional exercise .. they never say anything bad about it ... give it try

I eat pretty clean already. Nothing processed. No sugar, light on carbs.

Cardio I have down pat. Looking to add bulk, but in a more fun way, other than 4 sets of 10 in the typical gym format.

Looking to add bulk

Train heavy, tear down the muscle, eat a lot protein. However, to really build size you need to sleep that is when you grow.

Cross fit will get you in better shape and more muscular.. but size needs sleep and calories

Lower the reps and sets for 6 weeks.

Do 3 sets of 5 with heavy weight and lots of time between sets, and do fewer exercises.

I alternate every 4-6 weeks between light, high rep and high, low rep. Works for me!

Exactly right. And all business.

Just joined a gym with no A/C, rusty equipment, and Slayer/Pantera on the music system. That itself builds muscle, a dungeon of pain and SWOLE!!!

I eat the way my grand and great-grand parents ate - they lived long and healthy lives.

What? You have to run a daily half marathon to even come close to potentially damaging cardio exercise. Certainly an occasional 7 mile run will only make you fitter, unless you have any joint/knee/foot problems that is a perfect exercise. In fact premature aging is more likely to happen if you don't completely exhaust (and starve) yourself once in a while. Cardio and strength training are equally important, 50%/50% is good.

Depends what accessional is. Soccer players run about 10km/game - about 7 miles. It is not even continuous run. Check how many 20-something players there are who look like they are over 40.

You can exhaust your body very well with a few sprints.
