You would think with economy doing so well they would have already started?

Monetary base and Fed balance sheet are two different things.

If you're talking about government debt in general... our days of lower deficit trends are done.. by 2024 just mandatory payouts will exceed government revenue.

We simply have too many old people now collecting S.S. and Medicare to have any movement on government debt but up
