Of course he opposes affirmative action; like I said in another thread, in what ways is being a 'dot indian' an advantage in this country. He isn't best student but clearly can do respectably in med school and pass all boards without any fails.

Unlike many of my relatives, I didn't grow up with lot of money and had only slightly more than the Mexican girl who is first in family to go to college.

But when it comes to college admission I am compared amongst a list of asians and Indians who have, in most cases a lot more resources than I did, while Mexican Girl is compared among list of peers(other Mexicans)

That girl went to Notre dame and Stanford for med school and is on faculty at UNM school of med

All a South Asian needs to do is find his 'Parsi' relative (think Freddie Mercury) and then, he's a white applicant to medical school, since ppl from Central Asia or the Middle East are white for admission's sake.

If that fails, then get a mail stop in South America and then, re-label oneself as a Hispanic-South-Asian.

Hence, the Univ of London distance program, the only true equalizer among all attendants, white or Asian, since the tuition is low but the grade inflation is minimal, along with the brand name value of a top tier British university.

Absolutely. I had several classmate friends with terrible board scores and mediocre grades who were admitted to med schools that rejected more qualified white applicants. Just look on the NIH website for loads of special programs for non-white people. I hope Trump and the Republican congress gut affirmative action.

If your parents are pressuring you to go to Med School against your wishes, now, all you have to do is pretend to be white.

Do college applications ask for race? Is it voluntary disclosure? And how do they check?

Affirmative Action is nothing but thinly veiled discrimination, and it does nothing to end the root causes of inter-generational poverty. It does, however, endanger the pubic. When qualified medical students, firefighters, or any other important job applicant is denied in favor of a less capable one, the result is that the public risks death. It's equality theater at the expense of public safety and ethics.

I have no problem with a white person pretending to be a minority in order to not be discriminated against by Affirmative Action. It's the modern equivalent of light-skin blacks trying to pass as white so as to not be disenfranchised. The problem is with Affirmative Action, not those trying not to be crushed by it.

OK, what if I declare my race as "mixed" or "other" - ambiguous enough so that it can't be proven wrong + sounds minority-like?

We always talk about hypocrisy.

The truth of the matter is the overwhelming majority of the population is just arguing whatever points directly benefit them. It's not about right or wrong.
