Seems like the Democrats have officially embraced a policy of defeat for the next 8 years

By Goran_K following x   2017 Feb 17, 8:28am 2,806 views   25 comments   watch   quote     share

Let me start off by saying, I'm actually a Centrist, more libertarian than conservative or left. On many issues I am "progressive", and on other subjects I am conservative. I didn't support Trump during the election. So this isn't an "identity" issue for me, certainly not right vs left.

That being said, I feel like the democrats/left is intent on losing every major election for the next 8 years. Berkeley Riots, MSM's dishonesty, an unnatural embrace of Islam (which flies in the face of all logic), embracing illegal immigration, and now PewDiePie.

For those that don't know PewDiePie, Pew has over 50,000,000 subscribers, most of who range in age between 14 - 18, aka future voting citizens of America. He's not the guy you would think the Left would try and paint as a nazi, and attempt to discredit and go to war with, especially considering the fervent support he has from such a large, young, demographic. But then again, the Democrats elected Pelosi as their House leader again.

These Pew supporters may not necessarily be "Conservatives", but they will not grow up to be Leftist, that's for sure. The type of MSM smear campaign that WSJ, NYT, CNN has run against PewDiePie as him being a nazi or racist based on some fairly tame jokes he made in some videos is why Trump won. Now they are trying to literally drive 58 million young, soon-to-be voters, away from the left, a demographic that democrats believe will turn their fortunes around in future elections.

We'll see about that.

The left totally blew it by forgetting their original reason for being (speaking up for the workers) and instead fanning hysteria over all kinds of social crap, like whether trannies should use the bathroom of their actual gender.

Or maybe they did not blow it, but there was a deliberate strategy to move them away from their original cause...

The democrat left of 2017 is some monster that doesn't even resemble the democrat left of 1997. I used to be considered center left during Clinton's era. Now I'd say I'm solidly center-right, and my politics have not changed much in 20 years.

Same here I kind of go back and forth from the center as both sides have things that I like and dislike. But the extreme left has gone so bat shit crazy off the rails that they have far surpassed the wacky religious nuts I can't stand on the right.

I used to be firmly on the left, but have been so alienated by their righteous and bizarre attitudes about race and sex and I don't want to deal with them anymore. It should be about economics.

I used to love NPR and the NY Times, but now every article seems calculated to either praise minorities (and put down the majority) or is yet another screech about Trump. They don't seem in the least self-aware of how bigoted they have become about the majority in "flyover" country.

Remember as a "minority" I went to the cancelled trump rally. I was called a nazi, racist and other vile names and people holding the most obscene nasty signs haranguing anyone streaming out-many of whom were kids and grandmas.

The next one I went to he held in the middle of IL-it was full and had to leave as many of us streamed out -the same thing -most vile insults as grandmas in strollers and kids passed by. I guess it was the interiors and I was one of the few minorities and a bunch of white college kids-or that age-mocked me and asked me if trump deported me from his rally and all burst out laughing at me. We all saw the scenes at the CA where people were bloodied, chased on the streets, women were surrounded and egged. Yet look at the media coverage -like Trump was the crazy one. That was my first taste of MSM bias.

Then it comes out these protesters were paid and one of these organizers attended the white hours 100s of times and met with Obama 44 times in the White house. But the media calls an incoming Flynn calling the Russian ambassador equivalent to pearl harbor/9/11 . I mean wtf is wrong with these people???

Well, I call myself centrist too ( I supported Bush in 2000 and liked McCain and did not have any issue with Romney) and I support Republicans at local level. That said, Trump is incompetent and a traitor. He has all the traits of a fascist. Don't care if the OP switched side, I have many friends who supported Trump and now are regretting that. I get that the left ( I do not like that term as I consider myself as a blue dog, pro gun and fiscal conservative, don't care much about Islam or immigration but hate the extreme right because of the Nazi tendencies and not respecting science ) is leaning too much left but as flawed a candidate Hillary was ( with her side dealings), she was not left and some would argue she was more Right than Trump. And she was a proven administrator. Right rejected everything just because that liar promised jobs ( the only way he will get his the non conservative protectionist way) and religion ( The Church made a pact with devil like it always does) .
Well I am sure some centrist will switch to Right but I believe in the end, the good will triumph over evil. If not we are all doomed under this mental case Trump.

There are the people's priorities. Making a living wage in an actual job (not on welfare) contributing to society and generally feeling good about their nation, race, gender and community. The left and past administration has destroyed all of this in 8 years (last time Americans were united was after 9/11, at least briefly). You may have good and evil reversed here at least half of the nation would argue, so the moral approach doesn't work here. The left/neocon pact is more devilish than any of Trump's outbursts, waging a new war with Russia to score political points. It was the left which opposed McCarthyism and embraced foreign governments with a different system than theirs, now they want to go to war with every country that is not on their cultural-marxist-globalist bandwagon. Don't the Russians love their children, too?

Maybe they just cynically wanted to pull in some of those 54m (young) subscribers to click on the content whilst simultaneously appealing to their core readership and pulling in all those people who know and don't like him. It more smacks of what seems very common nowadays - clickbait journalism attacking easy/popular targets on a superficial level. Or maybe it's simply a generational thing since this was driven by the WSJ initially. Or it could simply be an opportunity piece by the journalist herself seeing as she writes for Wired and presumably knows exactly what PewDiePie does. Whatever the reason, it was very poor journalism simply because they so obviously misrepresented what he was doing to get hits.
Of course, Zerohedge argues it's all because (they believe) he came out as a Trump supporter, in so doing completely misunderstanding/misrepresenting his schtick themselves.

is why Trump won.

So much has been claimed as the deciding motivator for Trump's win. I believe fear, economic anxiety, and Dems running a status quo candidate with an electorate that wanted change, are the actual motivators.

This anti-PC BS is a side show. While I certainly think the treatment of Pew is horrible, I'm happy to let you believe the delusion that this will somehow revitalize the dying Republican brand. The youth demographic is solidly Dem/Lib/Ind. I don't see a shift in anti-PC-appeal causing a resurgence of conservatism in America's youth.

They haven't reformed their factions yet. The Tea Party was born from Obama/the bailout. Trump is so divisive I believe we will see a progressive backlash.

PewDiePie.

He made his biggest mistake when he apologized at 4:20. In Vox Day's book "SJW's Always Lie", the worst thing the target of an SJW can do is apologize, it's like blood in the water to circling sharks. The SJW's don't want your apology, they want to destroy you. After your apology, you're still going to lose your job anyway, maybe because you did apologize. In PDP's case, it didn't do him any good either as he had to keep on explaining and explaining.

The democrat left of 2017

Is made up mostly by people the ilk of Bill Ayers (terrorist), Bernadine Dohrn, Angela Davis (Marxist terrorist), Gloria Steinam and the lunatic fringe of the radicals of the late 60's and early 70's, those nearing their 70's now. They never gave up the fight and are true believers that Amerikkka is the worst country in the world and their hatred of traditional values, religiously observant society is boundless.

If Hillary is a "status quo" democrat candidate, then the democrats have a lot more to worry about than you are letting on. :)

The anti-PC side show has become the main show. The amount of press that the Berkeley riots was given nationally didn't leave a positive impression of the left. I won't claim everyone on the left is in support of those type of radicals, just like not all Muslims are radical, yet here we are, and now it's become an issue that people around the nation are peering at under a microscope. The left has become so oblivious to their own rot, that they don't see how they are hurting their own cause.

As for the "youth demographic voting for democrats" and giving power to that party, that's an argument I've heard for a long time. I remember in 2010 when Democrats were claiming the GOP was dead, and would never win another major election again. Then in 2016, when it was a 99% chance that Hillary would win the presidency because of the overwhelming millennial vote. Obviously, that logic was flawed. It's always been flawed. If that logic had any salt at all, the GOP should not have won a major election since the 60s. Yet here we are. The reason being that ideas and attitudes change as people grow older, get REAL jobs, actually make income of their own. Once people get their first W2 job, immediately, they become much more conservative (fiscally). Once they start their own families, they start to lean right socially, creating more centrist & conservatives. That's how the GOP has won so many elections over the past 60 years.

You must never apologize or else you've exposed your belly for them to rip out and feast upon. I was greatly disappointed when Trump apologized for the pussy grab remark -- especially because it's true. They do let you grab their pussies and are happy about it if they think they can maybe use you to get billions of dollars.

Ironically, lots of Trump's supporters agree with the left that the video normalized Nazism. At least, his yuge supporter over at Stormfront said as much.

Exactamundo. This is why when certain commenters support Muslim refugee influx, they never support them using the resources they avail themselves to (schools/education) for those children.

Refugees 100% cool as long as they are relocated to some deplorable-dominated location such as Idaho

They lie to themselves about it and try to assuage guilt by voting democrat and by extension, for welfare to keep refugees, deplorables and coloreds on their side of tracks.

Can't make jokes about Jews, blacks and East Asians (unless you are of those races)

With butt hurt crybabies like Aziz Ansari and that guy commenting on the Ashton Kutcher commercial, Indians and south asians try to get in on act.

Personally, I often find jokes involving Indian characters to be funny. If people of Indian origin. want to be buthurt about it, then they should be critical of the Indians who make such stereotypes apparent and not the people making the jokes.

I agree about identity politics being a problem for democrats. But I don't see liberals as fanning hysteria. THe party has a big tent, and it does include tolerance. When Obama overturned that NC state law preventing the little boy who identified as a girl, from using the girls restroom, he wasn't trying to fan hysteria, nor was he acting on an issue that he would put in his top twenty issues of importance. Maybe not even his top 100.

It's the right wing media that blows it up and fans the hysteria, becasue they know that there are many people with old fashioned values, and even relatively liberal people like me that find the whole notion of a child wanting to change their gender a little troubling. I find the Katlyn Jenner thing troubling too. This gender stuff is far from popular. So the right knows they can use it to fan the flames of hate on the right.

That's what's really going on. IT never has been anything close to a priority on the left. Except amoung a small cohort of about 10%.

Maybe we are at a time when a political party can not stand on principal and must go with what's popular instead(although the right gets away with it). But that's all part of the true sad fact that we really are trending towards autocracy.

PewDiePie should sue the WSJ for libel. It's a slam dunk case and he can demonstrate damages. Imagine the WSJ having to justify to a jury calling this guy a Nazi.

My Response video

Just watched PewDiePie's response video. I've never been a fan of PewDiePie and don't get his humor or his appeal. However, clearly a lot of people do -- a target audience much younger than I am -- and there is absolutely no reason to want to tear this guy down other than jealousy and feeling threatened by competition.

The WSJ clearly character assassinated him for its own financial interests and inflicted considerable financial damages to this man by publishing false and libelous material that it knew was false and damaging. PewDiePie should receive both compensation and damages from the WSJ.

Hopefully this whole attack will backfire on the WSJ and their reputation will be severely damaged by it. And maybe the dinosaur media will understand that they will lose any war they start with new media, and they simply have to live in a world where startups can compete with them for ad revenue and subscribers.

This whole attack is even more ridiculous because the Wall Street Journal should not be in directly competition with PewDiePie. He doesn't do investigative journalism. His audience would never read the WSJ or care about its subject matter. And yet, they attacked him like Fox News attacked Obama and Hillary or like MSN and SNL attacks Trump. The WSJ should be made an example of to ensure this kind of bullying does not happen again. Basically, the WSJ did to PewDiePie what the big car companies did to Tucker.
