A little-known alliance between the US and Tsarist Russia led to the Russian fleet showing up in force in New York and San Francisco. It arrived at a crucial time in 1863 when Britain and France were on the verge of intervening in the Civil War on the side of the Confederacy. An actual world war was on the horizon that would “wrap the world in flames” as Secretary of State William Seward put it. The mighty Russian presence deterred the Anglo-French from invading, and the Union was saved.

With all due respect, there is nothing wrong with Russian or Chinese or Iran or anyone for that matter. The blind xenophobia against any specific nation is not right.

Currently, some People are seriously apprehensive about the current regime is Russia, and there are valid reasons for this. That has nothing to do Russian people. And old story about Russian role in the history is irrelevant today.

In addition, it is extremely alarming to see the current administration's bellicose attitude toward almost every other nation except Russia. This inconsistency doesn't jive.

The current (and all previous) administration seems to have an amazing reluctance to call out Saudi Arabia's support for terrorism as well.
