40 Proposals

By someone else following x   2017 Feb 19, 6:18am 48,465 views   288 comments   watch   quote     share

The common theme is ending the entrapment and exploitation of US citizens.

Copyright

Crime and Prisons

Discrimination

Education

Foreign Policy

  • End all visas for Saudis and freeze their US assets until they establish freedom to change religion and freedom of speech, stop murdering gays, and stop sponsoring terrorism.
  • Ban oil imports from countries without democracy, freedom to change religion, or freedom of speech.
  • Put compensating tariffs on foreign goods from countries with lower wages or lower environmental standards.

Freedom of Speech

  • Prohibit job termination based on political activities outside of work.

Immigration

Medical Care

Men's Rights

Money

  • Define the dollar as one ounce of pure silver minted by the US government.
  • Audit the Federal Reserve and make all their books and operations completely open to the public.

Real Estate

Regulation

Taxes

  • Require every employer and financial company to use the exact same printed and online format for every W-2, 1099, etc, and to make all financial data available to customers via standardized REST APIs. All fields must always have exactly the same names and be in the same positions. HR Block etc lobby to make sure this does not happen.
  • Increase taxes on non-productive rent-seeking and decrease taxes on income from productive work or sales. Swap the current maximum tax rates on income from work vs capital gains.
  • End Prop 13 in California.
  • Prohibit sales tax on used property that was already taxed per the full retail price when first sold.
  • Prohibit all public sector unions, especially teacher's unions and prison guard unions.

Transit

  • Give official federal priority to fast safe cheap rail transit in place of subsidies and favoritism for cars, oil, and highways.

Voting

  • Require proof of US citizenship to vote.
  • Establish the inalienability of the right to vote for all US citizens, whether in prison or not.
  • Publicly fund all congressional and presidential campaigns
  • Publicly post all bills two weeks in advance of Congressional vote. Require that Congressmen personally read entire bill before voting on it.
  • People should have a right to petition Congress regarding a specific proposal, and if they get enough signatures require a roll call vote in both houses of Congress on the verbatim topic of the petition, without amendments.

How you can help: If you agree with any or all of these proposals, please add your own feedback on the proposals and post links to the proposals on other websites.

No sales tax on used cars/boats/motorcycles that were already taxed per the full retail price when those items were first sold. I would extend that out to used anything that was already taxed at full retail price previously.

Eliminate permanent housing subsidy prop-ups like section-8.

Eliminate BS visual inspections during smog checks. If it passes the tailpipe test (what actually affects the environment), it passes! As you can see I'm bitter for being hassled about some air filter that CA didn't see as compliant even though the tailpipes test was clean as a whistle.

* short clear written presentation of non-emergency medical costs before treatment, universally fixed costs for emergency treatment

I remember if you got hurt or really sick, they encouraged you to go the Hostpital. The Emergency Room was just a waiting room with nurses.
There were blue signs with a White H on the route to the Hospital. What ever they do Emergency Room related medical costs should still be considered as to cap roving Doctors that pop in to Hospital billing offices and sign their name on medical records they had nothing to do with. Bills still come 9 months later.

I think killing the insurance industry will pull medicine back in line. It's not like nobody will make medicine if Billionares aren't making 700% profit on it.

i second the kangaroo court issue. corporations have completely caved in to the SJW, and it's not a passive issue.

definition: SJW in corporate-speak is called "diversity and inclusion" and what it actually is in practice is anti-white-hetero-male

the executive body sets up a "hotline" run by SJW's to receive SJW complaints and perceived violations of policy. investigations are then conducted by SJW's.

More ideas anyone?

Damn, Patrick for president. I agree with everything, except physical gold and silver money, which are too easily manipulated. I'd prefer a crypto-currency solution to the problem of countering currency debasement.

As for more ideas, many, but I don't have time for a long post right now. So a short list...
- Rewrite the Constitution
- Voting is a right, not a privilege, and that right cannot be taken away.
- Ban all searches that constitute rape or sexual assault.
- Revoke the freedom of religion clause of the First Amendment. Religion should have no privileges.
- Shore up the freedom of press and speech by having an explicit list of specific exceptions and anything not on the list is protected speech.
- Anyone in one branch of the government can never run or work for another branch.
- Anyone with a parent, child, or sibling who holds any public office cannot run for office.
- Unlimited IP telephony / Skype services for prisoners. It can be monitored, but access not limit except for demonstrable security reasons. And it should not cost anything.
- Demilitarize the police and replace occupation with community policing
- Emphasize rehabilitation
- End the war on drugs
- Physically move Israel, including all the "holy" dirt so someplace far from the Middle East. It's less expensive than all this warfare.
- Single payer clearinghouse that publishes all prices for medical services and streamlines all billing and collection
- Nationalize all health insurance. It's more economically efficient.
- Seize the farms of any farm owner who uses illegal labor knowingly
- End all property forfeiture and prosecute those who use it to commit robbery
- Create a national virtual university that is free for all students of any ages and thoroughly tests students with high standards. Later expand to high school.

24 someone else   ignore (0)   2017 Feb 19, 12:29pm   ↑ like (0)   ↓ dislike (0)     quote

I agree with many of these and incorporated some of your ideas into the original post above. I especially love the idea of a free national virtual university, end to property confiscation, a single-payer clearinghouse of prices by provider, Skype for prisoners, inalienable right for US citizens to vote.

I'd rather not touch the Constitution. I agree voting should be an inalienable right for US citizens. I don't see searches being sexual assault to any significant degree, and there remains the practical problems of searching for weapons. I'm against political dynasties, but don't want to explicitly forbid anyone from holding office, just like I would not take away their right to vote. The war on drugs has definitely failed (except for huge profits for the prison industry) so marijuana at least should be federally legal. Not sure the country would survive legalization of, say, heroin or cocaine.

The holy land isn't just the dirt. It's the physical spot on earth. They would fight anyway.

It's the physical spot on earth.

The Earth's core is molten and rotating. That physical spot is in constant motion. Make them choose between the sacred latitude and longitude coordinates or the sacred land. They can't have both.

We could move the land and the holy buildings to some nice spot west of Europe or Africa and give Israel ten times the land it currently has. I think the Israelis are practical enough to appreciate that.

The fact is that the Muslim world is not ready to grow the fuck up and accept living around Jews. It's just not happening.

Why should the possession and use of any drug be illegal? How does throwing drug addicts in jail help cure addiction? Sweden has the right model. Swedish models are usually quite beautiful.

I don't feel very strongly about that either way. I can see that prostitution has some real harms, like psych damage to the prostitute, and spreading disease. But otoh, people should be able to fuck up however they want as long as they are not hurting others.

Again, if people want to fuck up their own lives, they should have the right. But otoh again, some drugs are pretty damaging and hard to resist once the user is hooked. On the third hand, the drug trade and the drug war itself are massively damaging, mostly because the drug are illegal. The only one I'm absolutely sure should be legal is pot.

I want Patrick.net to help do some truly useful politically incorrect things. I'm trying to come up with a list of very simple clear campaigns to make or change laws. Here's my initial group:

  1. mandatory paternity testing at birth with zero child support obligations for non-biological fathers unless they voluntarily adopt the child
  2. a ban on corporate HR and university PC kangaroo courts; no firing or expulsion unless government court determines law has been broken
  3. proof of US citizenship as requirement to vote
  4. mandatory jailing (not fines, jail) of employers of illegal immigrants for 30 days per violatio and seizure of any farm who's owner who uses illegal labor knowingly
  5. short clear written presentation of non-emergency medical costs before treatment and universally fixed costs for emergency treatment
  6. single payer healthcare, no private insurance companies
  7. publicly funded congressional and presidential campaig...

Oh Patrick, how quaint. Simply makes too much sense and takes money out of the pockets of those in control.

I first read in The Skeptical Environmentalist that we're actually proving more reserves per year, every year. It's just harder to get at.

Not to mention how quickly technology is changing and alternative sources, e.g. fracking is only the beginning which (I believe) in effect has made the US independent on oil. Which has been a goal (the mandate of the dept of energy, BTW why do they exist then?) for many decades, really mind blowing that hardly even is mentioned.

Chris is an example of how the scientific method gets it wrong.

BayArea says

should we change the paternity testing statement to "if either party requests" ?

An often cited reason for legally requiring a man to submit to paternity testing even if he's not agreeing to raising the kid is that the child has a human right to know his or her family medical history, and this right trumps the privacy of either parent. Well, wrong information is way worse than no information. If a child thinks his parent is one person, who's family has a history of heart attacks, when it's really another person, who's family has a history of cancer, decisions made on the basis of that false information could cost the child his life and also endangers his children and grandchildren who also receive incorrect medical history information.

So yes, paternity testing should be mandatory. There is no downside unless you consider revealing affairs to be a downside.
