Is the big fat lie that Trump/Republicans want to repeal "Obamacare ".

A close second to the bigly, bigly lie that Trump/Republicans care about the citizenry, freedom, and States Rights

You want to grow Industrial Hemp, as The Founding Fathers not only intended, but actually did, back when America was Great, Trump/Republicans will lock you up and throw away the key.

Why?

More importantly, why haven't you asked why before?

They would love to repeal, if for nothing else than to claim they did it.

They just can't find anything that will work that's more republican than ACA.

Re: hemp, there's no shortage of inconsistencies in GOP "philosophy".

I just saw this post and thought the same thing. More to the point, why has no one come up with a much better plan - other than single payer?

I agree with CL.
Bernie was better on healthcare.
Hillary wasn't gonna do jack.

but if Bernie's plan was put into law, it would have bankrupted the country in ONE year.

Only if you tally up the total cost and forget to account for the reduction in money already spent by individuals and the government in the form of tax subsidies.

When a product or service is perceived as "FREE", with very little skin in the game, people use a lot MORE of it.

In the current system, everybody involved except the patient has an interest in having more of it consumed. Hospitals, doctors, etc. do better with more demand. Investors want more profits. Insurers can only make a fixed percentage of profit, so to maximize profit, they need to maximize the amount spent. It's only the patients who don't benefit when too much health care is consumed. A single payer would have more incentive to change the payment structure to be results based and decrease the overall payments. People don't want to be subject to excessive health care. As it is, some people get too much, and others get too little. It's a mess, and it's subsidized by the government.

Is it 60 or 65? People don't qualify for Medicare until they are 65. If Gov is the problem then why is our system such an abject failure when compared to other systems around the world that are public funded systems?

Why does healthcare spending in this country jump up so dramatically for people in their 60's compared to other countries?

Do you want me to debunk your chart yet again? Medicare is a PART of why spending jumps (not so dramatically if you use real numbers). It's a poor system. The government, which is medicare and all the other programs, pays 65% of medical bills over 65. What about the other 45% that jumps also? https://journalistsresource.org/studies/government/health-care/elderly-medical-spending-medicare

I'd bet that if there's a spike in spending for Medicare recipients, it's because:
1) They're old, and old people have more and expensive problems
2) There are people who get stuck between insured and uninsured, especially between 60 but before 65, so they defer maintenance.
3) There have been insured people before qualifying for Medicare that have shoddy coverage.
4) Nursing homes are orgiastic playgrounds, filled with sexually repressed former conservative widows and widowers, and venereal disease.
5) Bill O'really and Roger Ailes create the man milkshakes branded "Ensure", which has been known to have caused psychoactive disturbances
6) Alex Jones made the chili

I thought this was BS but it's true, and a very skewed male/female ratio. Figures you get those odds when you no longer give a shit.

Finally, you agree!!

I never disagreed medicare wasn't a particularly good system numbnuts. I disagreed that medicare is the primary reason costs go up (the real amounts they go up, not your totally bogus numbers). There are many reasons.

squawk it's medicare, squawk it's medicare. You like are a parrot regurgitating whatever you read on rightwingnut.com without bothering to think about it at all.
