Homeownership plunges to 50-year lows

All thanks to the tight mortgage requirements. The net worth of America reached a record high, yet you have this situation.

7   anonymous   2017 Oct 31, 3:14am

Why would home-ownership plunge if the economy is
booming?
8   anonymous   2017 Oct 31, 4:20am

Even the most Bush-happy, flag suckling jack-arse knows deep-down inside that something is wrong. America is over and everyone knows it. The New World Order has a dying empire odor and changing the channel ain't going to make this go away.

Which would have been considered normal requirements in any other normal time--you had to actually have enough money to pay for the house you wanted. In the late 60's a teacher friend of my mother and her husband applied for a mortgage and as part of the application they had to take physicals--it was lucky for them because she was found to be in the early stages of breast cancer. It was cured, they got the house and she lived into her early 90's.

Good. Working class Republicans need to suffer until they are taught a lesson.

We went from unusually easy loan standards to ultra tight standards after the crash. Going back to lending standards before the housing bubble formed would be the right thing to do. We had subprime, 2nds,stated income, and negative amortization, all of which required large down payments.
My first purchase was in 1986 when I was almost done with college, was a stated income negative amortization loan. It required excellent credit and a down payment of 25%, half of which I got from my parents. The start rate was 7.95%. I would not have been able to buy that home, which I still have, without the stated income loan.

I don’t think these people have jobs, but they are obviously insufferably miserable. Reap what you sow

I'm the first to admit some people aren't going to learn anything and will continue to cut off their nose to spite their face.

You doubt that your great country is on the wane? I say only this - look around you.

I look around and see a land of opportunity with the streets paved with gold. You look around and see the same streets full of dog shit.
It's the difference between an optimistic and a pessimist.

You have the freedom to leave for a Communist country. Please take advantage of it. Isn't America great?

LOL I'm picturing you in 1776 telling the founding fathers that they can wash their hands of all the problems and leave. I've always thought this argument was ridiculous and I still do.

The founding fathers loved America, and wanted to make it better. The ones here who hate America want to make things worse.
I suggest those who hate America should leave. There are millions across the globe dying to take their place.

When a people cannot agree on the principals that make/made America great, I believe they will see anti-American destruction in their opposing ideologies.

Yes, there will always be a Hamilton vs Jefferson dichotomy, debate, and shouting in the messy constitutional republic of the USA. Today though, we cannot even decide on what to debate, or agree to even some of the most simple things.

I hazard you see criticism, in general, as anti-American. Know that the opposing view is that that criticism itself, is actually seen as the "most American" thing we have.

I actually see criticism as being American. Criticism precedes change, and if we did not criticize we would still have slaves.
However, I don't have to support all criticism. That would be silly.

Clearly Trump's fault. What's he going to do about it besides raising my taxes and giving the rich more money?
