Indian technology company Infosys Ltd. plans to hire more American workers instead of foreign labor in response to the Trump administration’s increased scrutiny of the controversial H-1B visa program.

The company expects to hire 10,000 domestic workers over the next two years while adding four research hubs to work on technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, Bloomberg reported. Its first new research location will open in Indiana in August 2017 and will ultimately create 2,000 jobs, company officials said.

“In the fast-changing world of today, we need the ability to be local. We need to be trusted by our customers as being local,” Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka told Bloomberg. “To work with a mix of global and local talent is absolutely the right thing to do.”

The announcement comes after President Donald Trump’s executive order directing the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security to take a closer looks at potential abuses in the H-1B visa program. Critics say the program, which lets U.S. companies hire foreign workers with technical skills if they can’t find them domestically, provides legal cover for firms to replace American workers with cheaper imported labor.

Oh we're here we just don't play Liberal HR politcal bullshit. So we work from home and laughed as Indian cheap labor, and affirmative action Retards destroyed the American Enterprise.
Trump will bring it back and sensible un PC critical thinkers back to the work place. Eventually Trumps think tank has got to realize we can't have healthy stock markets where people invest in companies.
But have no idea that the same idiots we see protesting in the street like domestic terrorists are the same idiots driving companies into the ground. They have replaced Earl and Frank the critical analysists with Liberal Arts majors that reacts on every gut feeling.

When Trump unties our hands, Asian tech people will be considered inferior labor again.
We're going to bounce back Bigly!
Bah Leeb Meh!!!
MAGA!

I agree. They have been preparing for the changes in H-1B Visa for almost 9 or 10 years now. They get 60% of their revenues in the US. It's still a game of political roulette.

Actually, Infosys, an Indian Outsourcing company, promises jobs for Americans, and these 'Hire American' policies led to the review of employment immigration laws. But for many, India is a less appealing place to do programming work.

Did Indianapolis and Indiana over compensate with the incentives on this one ?

Yes. At $45 per hour, 31M can pay for 80 people for 5 years. Considering that they have only 140 employees right now and only plan to hire 100 more this year, this is free workers for them. Most tech workers that have skills will not pick up and move to Indiana for $45 per hour.

Trump supporters are killing themselves trying to defend Trump.
He's accomplished nothing other than tweet, golf & show his signature on Executive Orders.

145,000/month - 10,000 = a failure from the master of the deal.

The Indian companies have insourcing centers-which is what i think they are. So instead of having workers in India, they have centers in the US -TCS has a big one somewhere in Ohio . it is not cheaper than Indian or Chinese or Phillipines workers, but cheaper than having a person on site at the "client".

it seems to be a happy medium for some companies.
