WaPo has an unnamed, unverifiable anonymous source with no collaborating evidence on one hand, on the other we have a denial directly out of the horses mouth AND collaborating evidence in the form of Rosenstein's recommendation to Fire Comey in a memo to Trump that the Administration released.

Yes, because it's inconceivable that Rosenstein threatened to quit but the Trump Administration talked to him and offered him something to get him to stay. Like, say a Trump statement saying that Comey was fired because Trump decided he was a showboater. And not because of Rosenstein's letter. That would never have happened...

The only two reasons for Trump to change his story are
(1) to prevent Rosenstein from quitting and blowing the cover completely or
(2) Trump really is a chicken with his head cut off, switching stories at the drop of a hat for no reason

By the way, both are correct.

OK, (1) may not be true. That leaves (2). This is why you should never trust #FakeNews from the President and his press corp.
Day 1 - He had to do it because Rosenstein told him to, because of the HRC investigation. And Sessions told him to. Oh, and they provided those memos on their own volition without being prompted.
Day 2 - He did it on his own volition, because of the Russia Trump investigation.
Day 3 - ???
