This deserves its own thread.

Lets review what we know. McMasters made a very clear statement that Trump didn't reveal any ISIS military operation not already "publicly" known. Bombs on laptops to take down planes was that military operation. Confirmed. The potential criticism of trump would be in revealing the target city of the attack which was classified information (as best as I can tell anyways.) The danger and implications of sharing this location was disregarded as fake news by everyone in the room.

What you probably missed was McMasters also saying Trump didn't know the source of the intel. Presidents get daily briefings, not full reports. Trump would have to specifically request the full report to know the source. This makes sense.

Washpo reported the danger to our national security is specifically in revealing our intelligence partner.

It is later reported in the MSM that Israel is that classified intelligence partner. So if trump didn't know it was Israel AND revealing Israel as out intelligence partner is top-secret classified intel AND the MSM are reporting Israel as the source WHO BROKE THE LAW? WHO LEAKED INFO? It wasn't Trump. How would the WashPo know it was Israel?

Answer: the leaker told them.

To summarize: The leaker told WashPo top-secret classified intel that Trump not only DIDNT but also COULDNT have known. This means the leaker committed a serious felony AND put our national security at risk. Given the small circle of people who know this level of information, my guess is they will catch this guy. Someone is going to prison. Shit just got real.

I foresee subpoena's going out to all journalists who reported the top-secret intel. They will be threatened w prison if they don't reveal their source. The MSM will call Trump a tyrant, yada yada yada. Eventually the leaker will go to prison, where this person belongs.

But I thought Trump declassified it by telling the Russians?

Wapo reports that he did provide highly classified info and that the post did not report what it was. I believe their story - not whatever you read.

Demanding sources, such as in this case? https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/may/20/obama-doj-james-rosen-criminality

Read the whole thing.

Why did the Obama DOJ hate freedom?

WikiLeaks, greenwald, etc are very careful to remove sources... To bad the MSM doesn't

How did WashPo know Israel is the source? That is highly classified info that trump didn't know.

What is taking Trump's supports so long to realize they've been had?

Almost impossible to tell whats happening back there w the constant Watergate accusations. This type MSM and political opposition hysteria has never been seen. Obama was handed a peace prize the day he walked into office. Trump was handed a deep state and MSM intent on reversing the democratic will of the people who elected him.

So... its a wee different.

I don't know, but according to WaPo, that wasn't the damaging information. Here's what's been reported that I recall:
Someone (I forget the name) who was at the meeting or read the transcript recognized a problem with divulging top secret information. They called the CIA and NSA to contain the problem. McMaster did not deny this. The information that was shared appeared innocuous, but could be used by the Russians (any competent intelligence agency) to figure out the sources and methods to a degree that would be damaging. McMaster did not deny this. McMaster said that Trump did not share sources or methods. He did not say that Trump didn't give up any information that could compromise sources and methods. That's a big distinction.
The WaPo did not report the top secret information that was shared. The narrative in the MSM is that Trump probably didn't even know that sharing that information could be a problem, because he doesn't understand how intelligence works and that sharing this information could be a problem.
I am puzzled by McMaster's statements. While he isn't really denying the MSM story, he is implying that Trump didn't do anything wrong. I think that this would be improper behavior if Trump did do something wrong. I hope that this is investigated, because somebody has egg on their face. It would be nice to figure out who.

McMaster denied this directly. He said the story as reported is fake news, and suggested the conversation could not possibly be damaging.

This is exact same narrative used to suggest Hillary is innocent. Apparently ignorance is a defense.

These transcripts are guaranteed to be reviewed, and the situation investigated.

I am also reading between the lines, ofc... but it does sound like the leaker revealed classified info, which would be a huge crime. They've been looking for the leaker for a while now.

David Laufman "Chief Counterintelligence and Export Control Section at National Security Division, U.S. Department of Justice". Also an Obama supporter and head of Hillary's rushed email investigation back in Oct wherein they closed an investigation into 49k emails in a few days, seems to be the odds on favorite to be the leaker. He is one of the few people who would see everything regarding Russia/Trump given his position and the ongoing investigation. He wasn't in the room w the Russians last week, but he would have read the transcript.

They will find the leaker, though Trump may need an FBI director he can trust to do it.

"They've been looking for the leaker for a while now."

"the" leaker? lol. As if there's just one?

I'm fairly certain Trump knows who leaked this story as it's a pretty small group of people that were in the room. Trump obviously needs the leaker more than the leaker needs to work for Trump.

Saying something is fake news is clearly an opinion. There is no specific fact being discussed. You are right, though.

He did not say that Trump didn't give up any information that could compromise sources and methods.

This is my mistake. McMaster said:

"I wanted to make clear to everybody that the president in no way compromised any sources or methods in the course of this conversation," the national security adviser said.

This directly contradicts the WaPo story/narrative.

14   joeyjojojunior   2017 May 17, 8:34am

Not really. He didn't give up the sources or methods. He gave up the city in which the intelligence was gathered which WaPo said made obvious which intelligence service developed the intel.

Never knew Trump couldn't present questions to intelligent agencies.
Wait! One must have the mental capacity to ask a question.
Trump knows nothing, takes no time to get pertinent info & then runs his mouth without knowing any possible damage he could cause?
If ignorance is not an impeachable offense, stupidity should be.
"buffoon"ery should be a reason for immediate removal.

This contradicts McMaster's statement that he "in no way compromised any sources or methods in the course of this conversation". That quote was from another WaPo story. So, someone has egg on their face here. McMaster clearly had time to review everything prior to this statement, because it came at the security briefing the day after the story broke.

https://shadowproof.com/2015/01/26/jury-convicts-former-cia-officer-jeffrey-sterling-of-leaking-to-journalist-violating-espionage-act/

"Prosecutors presented documents from 1987 about calling into the CIA from rotary phones, which had been found in Sterling’s home in Missouri, and claimed the retroactively classified documents had been moved from Virginia."

The Obama administration put this man away for RETROACTIVELY CLASSIFIED documents. All Trump needs to do is have his AG retroactively classify the comey dinner meeting and comey goes to prison.
