Way too clean, beauty parlored, styled, buffed, etc. When I was young, I couldn't afford an outfitted van. The people I knew who could and chose to live out of them looked pretty bedraggled and were in constant search of a shower and a laundry. This stuff is sponsored ad copy.

They are definitely making it look more glamorous than it actually is, but it is viable and a better option than living paycheck to paycheck.

Fair enough. I was thinking about America and extrapolating to Australia. I should not have done that. Women in other countries, even other western countries with very similar cultures, can be vastly different from the U.S. I stand corrected.

But these people don't look like trailer trash and frankly I don't think they're priced out of anything. They appear to me to be latter day hippies who'd rather surf than work and are perfectly happy with their lot in life--I'll bet most are on every kind of public assistance available. It may happen as it did with the original hippies--when they were in their 20's and early 30's, it had a certain charm and romanticism to it. But for some it "took" and by their 40's when they were no longer so attractive they were addicted drifters who had no real prospects in life.
