Love it. We need all the water we can get. The fucking drought is over. All thanks to Allah.

But but but... it's sinking!

Bitch? Skiing in July is fucking awesome!

Adding this to my (very short) list of reasons to stay in CA.

7   Dan8267   2017 Jun 8, 12:20am

There should be a tax on short-sighted fools who ignore the enormous expense of climate change just so they can ski.

8   Y   2017 Jun 8, 6:23am

Climate change will always happen, and the associated expenses will always be incurred, regardless of mankind's impact on the cycle.

Climate change? We had a climate turn-around with a cooler winter that produced more rain than usual and broke the five year drought. That's bitchin alright! If this is climate change, its change for the better!

11   RWSGFY   2017 Jun 8, 9:02am

It's fucking raining today all over the Bay Area. On fucking 8th of June!

One can say the exact same thing about terrorism. According to your reasoning, we should completely defund anti-terrorism efforts, decriminalize terrorism, and let the terrorists do whatever they want. Doesn't make a lot of sense, does it?

Quigley says

This is called cherry picking data and ignoring all the negative impacts of climate change. How many lives are you willing to take to get the rain you want? I know you won't have the balls to answer that question.

I think it only got up to about 64 degrees here yesterday! Where is that global warming I've been promised?

So you've been telling us we will soon roast in our own juices, and then the opposite happens and you're like, "See?! Climate change is killing us all!" Meanwhile things are better than ever! Your question makes no sense. Nobody has proposed killing for rain and I dare you to prove that the rain was because of someone getting killed! I know you won't have the balls to prove it tho.

Another person who doesn't know the difference between climate and weather. The various consequences of climate change have already started. Islands disappearing. The mosquito line rising. Mass extinction. Flooding of coastal cities. More severe natural disasters.

Again, how many lives are you willing to take to allow polluters to continue to pollute? I want a number. Don't pussy out.

17   Shaman   2017 Jun 8, 1:27pm

That wasn't the question you asked here:
Dan8267 says

Are you going to backtrack, change the subject, and run away from my question like you always do when I've clearly proven you ignorant on the very matter your rant is based?
Hide behind semantics, like you always do. Climate, weather, of course we know the difference! But you're using weather to talk about climate in the first place! Here is your statement in response to a post about weather and snow conditions: Dan8267 says

Climate change is a bitch, isn't it? Time to tax pollution.

Will you admit you're just trolling here?

If you think those questions are different, then answer both. How many lives are you willing to take to get the rain you want? How many lives are you willing to take to allow polluters to continue to pollute?

Quigley says

Are you going to backtrack, change the subject, and run away from my question like you always do

I never do any of that shit, and you're doing it right now. Come on, tell me how many lives are you willing to take? That was not a rhetorical question.

Quigley says

Climate, weather, of course we know the difference! But you're using weather to talk about climate in the first place! Here is your statement in response to a post about weather and snow conditions

Climate changes affects the weather, but isn't encapsulated by a few weather events, so my statements all stand. You cannot point to a single false statement I've made. The evidence supporting man-made climate change and its effects is staggering.

Are you seriously trying to argue that all the evidence for man-made climate change is wrong? Are you trying to argue that the negative effects are insignificant? Go on, grow a pair and state exactly what you are trying to say.

But first answer the questions above if you aren't a coward.
Quigley says

Will you admit you're just trolling here?

I bet you don't have the balls!

A man with balls does not admit to something false. Exposing your debunked lies is not trolling. The debate over man-made climate change is over. The science is settled. Anyone who says differently is lying.

20   Shaman   2017 Jun 8, 1:57pm

to answer your question, how many lives blah blah blah... I'm not in charge of that and it seems nobody is. I'm not even definitely saying that man made climate change isn't possible or isn't happening! What I am saying is two fold:
1) All political solutions proposed thus far are not only useless but harmful.
2) Other factors exist beyond CO2 that affect climate change even more.

I am firmly convinced that only technology can get us out of a self destructive cycle of pollution. Green tech should be assisted with grants and loans by the government, and it is. I'm also for green tech being incentivized with tax breaks for early adopters.

I'm NOT for stupid money transfer to lawyers, politicians, and backwards nations from the little people who can afford it least through a regressive tax on energy.

Admit it, Dan. You hate people and would like to see far less of them on this planet. That's why you want the big drastic "final solutions" that would starve fifty percent of the world to death in a few years.

21   Dan8267   2017 Jun 8, 4:43pm

Quigley says

I'm not in charge of that and it seems nobody is

Clearly you are OK will millions dying around the world due to pollution and climate change. You just don't have the honesty to admit it. If you weren't OK will millions dying, you wouldn't advocate polices and tell lies that cause those deaths.

Quigley says

I am firmly convinced that only technology can get us out of a self destructive cycle of pollution.

Technology may someday prevent terrorism, but are you OK with terrorism being legal until then? You clearly are OK with all the casualties of climate change and pollution until technology bails us out.

Quigley says

. You hate people and would like to see far less of them on this planet.

I hate some people. Anyone who says different is a liar, including you. However, in general I like people and would rather they live healthy, long lives. There's a huge trade-off between population and quality of life. Would you really want to live in China or starving like those in Africa? But overpopulation is hardly the only cause of environmental degradation. And it precisely for other people who will be born after I die that I advocate wise management of the environment and policies to prevent this generation from impoverishing countless future generations.

So don't claim to be more compassionate than I am. You are not.

Leaving on the table (for the moment) the issue of people not understanding weather vs climate...

There was supposed to be a Tough Mudder race in Tahoe, but it had to be moved because there is too much snow. So, one of the better Mudder courses got moved to Sacramento, which is flat and hot. Lots of very angry athletes over this.

23   Ceffer   2017 Jun 8, 8:26pm

Global Warming. All the cold from India went to California, and now, India is having killer heat waves.

24   Y   2017 Jun 8, 8:38pm

Put your money where your mouth is, Dan! Sell your stupid old red car and bicycle to work! If you don't live close enough, take public transportation or move closer! Stop using public electricity and gas utilities because they pollute! Use solar or nothing! Floridians used to live much closer to the land, so you could as well.
And get off the Internet. You're wasting electricity and thus polluting our planet needlessly!

Unless you completely stop using oil and electricity, you are supporting terrorism as much as ISIS! Christ, your bullshit hyperbole is beyond ridiculous. I have never stated that we have to eliminate all energy usage to save the environment. I stated that we should ban the form of theft called cost shifting and require polluters to pay for the complete cleanup of the pollution they create or to stop polluting if they cannot. This is the free market solution. Why do you hate free markets?

How about instead of presenting false dichotomies, you tell me why we should subsidize polluters with public wealth and pick winners and losers based on who races to the bottom quickest? Of course you won't answer that question just like you won't answer how many people are you OK with killing to allow pollution.

33   Shaman   2017 Jun 9, 9:52am

Dan8267 says

tell me why we should subsidize polluters with public wealth

I've never argued for this. In fact, gross polluters who own private jets and billion dollar companies with palatial estates are far MORE likely to be the beneficiaries of government money and contracts! And that is under the Leftist system! That is because they understand you must pay off government officials to get government money in form of contracts, tax breaks, and subsidies. All this public largesse allows them to buy that second corporate or private jet, staff that private island, and purchase a factory in China with absolutely no pollution controls.
How will any of your proposals fix that? Or should we leave the grossest polluters, in fact the pollution instigators and enablers, alone? If there is to be a carbon tax, it should be levied on the people who are responsible for this level of pollution, and be written in such a way that it can't be passed along to the little people.

34   Shaman   2017 Jun 9, 9:53am

In the meantime, let's build the wall and put solar panels on it! Biggest environmental project ever!

The poorest people will face the most pain from any carbon tax and increase income inequality.

This is undoubtedly true. Lobbying by large Ag companies is the reason why bioethanol, which is extremely environmentally unfriendly (much more so than gasoline derived from oil), is blended into fuel.

proposal for pollution taxes

Problem is, that it will be completely distorted by lobbying. I am sure that bioethanol will be exempted - meaning that driving will become even more polluting. Electric cars will also be exempted - and I am not sure if they save environment or just move pollution from LA to W. Virginia. Furthermore, money collected from carbon tax will likely be spent on building environmentally-friendly F-35's to be used in bombing Middle East.

If we want carbon neutrality, then we need tax breaks for nuclear plants, and promote research of Th nuclear plants and nuclear waste recycling.

Lobbying applies to everything legislated. Does that mean we should legislate nothing? Should murder, rape, and terrorism be legal because lobbyists influence laws regarding those things?

I'm all for nuclear done right. Always have been. Unfortunately, nuclear was not done right in the 1970s, but that doesn't mean it cannot be done right today.
