Around 15:00 EST , Sessions is basically saying that "it depends on what the meaning of the word recusal is".

Zzzzzzzzzzzz. Muh Russia. Are there tapes? Why did you write a recommendation for Comey's dismissal? Stonewalling by not answering questions protected by AG privilege is un-American, answer our fishing expedition/Inquistition committee... yadda yadda yadda.

Scraping for something, anything. But please, keep up the Russia stuff! Make it loud and proud!

"Yes, we were at the Mayflower hotel. If my recollection servers it was myself, a few other racist hobgoblins and Director Comey. But I did depart thereafter. I cannot recollect."

"Why sir do you so torment me? Do you try and make me cry upon these fudge cookies. Do you hate the Keebler elves and I so very much?"

I thought that was Sessions answering questions with the feminist voice, and lisp that sounds like he's been throat poked by one too many dicks

Sessions says that Trump has not asserted executive privilege of confidentiality, but Sessions will not answer questions because he thinks Trump may assert such privilege in the future!!

Now Sessions is saying that Trump has to explicitly WAIVE his executive privilege before Sessions can speak.

... yes, that would be ... ZERO!

Democrats better go create a scandal over there. Shame it has come to this.

If they don't have anything on you, and the entire purpose of the inquisition is to find something on you, why would you endeavor to help them find a toehold from which to manufacture charges?

One item that has not been discussed is that the original rationalization to fire Comey was that Comey "usurped the role of the Attorney General" when he announced in 2016 that Hillary Clinton would not be prosecuted over the private email server use and security breach.

It seems clear to me that Comey was ASKED or ORDERED to make the decision and announcement because the AG herself (Loretta Lynch) wanted to distance herself from the prosecutorial decision. Why distance? Because of the absolute certainty that AG LL would be deemed partisan if she did not. I guess one could say that LL recused herself, in a way...

Just thought this needed to be said.

There was zero, nothing, no legal wrong doing by Comey. He "leaked" his own contemporaneous notes to expose wrongdoing and protect himself from the Liar in Chief.

A leaker would be someone who knowingly leaked classified information. There is no legal case here.

If you cannot answer the questions out of "confidentiality" concerns, it is going to raise suspicions, not alleviate them.

Sessions invoked once removed, pre-emptive Executive Privilege on the chance Trump would want to declare EP it in the future. That's amazingly unheard of.

Edit: so unheard I see senators who were former lawyers stating that they actually believe Sessions couldn't really name any legal grounds for why he wasn't answering.

AG client privileges?

Maybe not. The AG is a prosecuting attorney, not a defendant attorney, and does not have private clients per se. If AG did have clients, I think it would be all citizens equally.

The US has a strange and often flawed justice system. Most western countries have a minister of justice, not an "attorney general". Likewise, prosecutors are NOT political appointees in most western countries. For obvious reasons, one should think.

In other news, Senator John McCain kind of bumbled through his questions again. Although he did not flub-and-fail the whole thing as thoroughly as during the Comey hearing. Most of his questions were designed for Sessions to grandstand.

Kamala Harris, OTOH, was a total bitch and grilled Sessions mercilessly. Nobody else bitched as much as she did.

Because they have nothing.

The Republicans are the same as the Democrats, when push comes to shove, they love Diverse Cheap Labor for their Corporate Donors, too.

It doesn't matter if Trump survives or not. It might even be better for the country if he's hounded out of office based on endless Frivolous pokes and prods. Neolib-Neoconism is dead, another Boomer "Gift" to America.

That's a bipartisan investigative committee there made up of ranking members of the Senate that happened today. It was beyond cordial, and more courteous than Session's deserved in parts.

What you don't see is, Mueller's arm kicking into gear now. He is the one you want to be scared of. He has the actual Comey memos. He is the one running the criminal investigation.

For a group of people claiming they wanted to fight corruption in government and drain the swamp, I find it shocking that investigations into potential corruption aren't your bread and butter ... so to speak. What gives?

An Alabama man whose brain was ravaged by severe amnesia is somehow able to function in an extremely demanding legal job, leading neurologists reported on Tuesday.

The man, whom neurologists are calling a “medical mystery,” has performed highly exacting tasks in one of the country’s top legal positions despite having virtually no short- or long-term memory.

Dr. Davis Logsdon, the chairman of the neurology department at the University of Minnesota Medical School, said that the Alabaman’s brain “defies explanation.”

“In all the medical literature, we have never seen an example of someone capable of holding down such a high-powered job while having no memory whatsoever of people he met, things he said, places he has been, or thoughts he has had,” Logsdon said. “It’s the stuff of science fiction.”

Logsdon said that his team of neurologists was studying video of the man in the hopes of understanding the paradoxical functioning of his brain, but Logsdon acknowledged that such a task was challenging. “After listening to him talk for hours, your own brain starts to hurt,” he said.
