For the past 2 weeks, 538/CNN/NYTimes/VOX/WaPO were claiming Ossoff was up by 2 to 7 points in all of their polls leading up to today's conclusion. Ossoff spent $23,000,000 in this campaign making it the most expensive U.S House contest in history. Lots of leftist hollywood liberal money, and of course from Democrat daddy, Soros.

But it wasn't enough. The #FakeNews polls, and $23 million all went down the drain as Handel is expected to win easily with most of the vote tallied in Georgia 6.

I can't wait until 2018 and 2020 when the Democrats wonder why their referendum, and "blue wave" never materialized.

http://www.ajc.com/news/state--regional-govt--politics/handel-defeats-ossoff-win-georgia-6th-district/lO6Ewa4vM1sbftMnQE9x6L/

Republican Karen Handel staved off a furious challenge from Democrat Jon Ossoff on Tuesday in a race to represent a suburban Atlanta seat in Congress, as the GOP and President Donald Trump avoided defeat in the most expensive U.S. House contest in history.

A former Georgia secretary of state, Handel emphasized her experience and roots in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District to defeat Ossoff and keep a seat that’s long been held by Republicans in GOP hands. She becomes Georgia’s first female Republican member of the U.S. House.

Please, keep putting these idiots like Kathy Griffin, Trevor Noah, Don Lemon Jr, Jake Tapper, Cuomo, Schumer, and Pelosi on Live TV. They are the best PR campaign for the Republican party yet.

I don't get it either.

I only wish the Democrats would've have spent that $23 million dollars on homeless people, women's pre-natal care, the black inner city, and other supposed groups that they pretend to care about.

$23 million to $3.5 million. We're talking Democrats outspending GOP candidates 6 to 1 and still losing.

Hillary spent $1.2 billion trying to win the presidency.

From an investment standpoint, this is pretty pathetic.

23 million on a shitty election? How much was he going to have to pay back to his "investors" from our tax dollars to cover their investment into his position.

A Republican "woman" mind you, that's a slap in the face to the liberal establishment who utterly hate every woman who is not in their camp.

7   FuckTheMainstreamMedia   2017 Jun 20, 9:22pm

Fuck the Democrats. In addition to this Ossoff's 23 million, there was another 27 million in Democrat soft money.

Leftist tears taste oh so good.

I just wonder what the next leftist hysteria will be. Cops killing black people, Trump supporters being racist, Gay rights under fire, North Korea gonna nuke us, ZOMG OBAMACARE repeal, ZOMG the roooskies.....the left is getting played out. The guys on this board are trying hard to stay ahead of the curve with ZOMG weesaa all gonng fry, but I think the mainstream leftist aren't smart enough.

Oh and FUCK YEAH!

Even lefty stalwart VOX is worried about what the results from this special election means. Jon Ossoff was supposed to be the beginning of the "Blue Wave".

https://www.vox.com/2017/6/20/15843864/jon-ossoff-special-election

- Jon Ossoff had a $23 million war chest compared to his opponents $3-4 million (some say Ossof had close to $50 million from outside groups).
- Trump only won the district by 1.5 points, it was seen as an easy flip for the DNC.
- Handel is a Mike Pence type conservative. Seen as too right wing to appeal to a broader demographic.
- ABC/WaPO poll had Ossof up by 7 points only days before the election. NYT and CNN also had Ossoff up by as much.

Yet, with all the factors pushing behind Ossoff, probably the strongest of the special election Democrats, he was trounced by 5+ points when it came down to the actual election. What does this mean down stream in 2018? Not good for the DNC. They need to flip 26 seats to take the house and turn Trump into a lame duck president. But now 0-4 in special elections with the real show starting in less than 18 months? Seems like flipping 26 seats may be impossible for the DNC.

13   joeyjojojunior   2017 Jun 21, 7:44am

It's too bad you can't stop exaggerating when making a point, because some of what you say is actually true.

But, Ossoff lost by under 4 pts. The latest polls before the election had it even or Handel up 2. Handel had $18.5MM in outside spending so it's not like she was hurting for money.

But, it is a good win for the Republicans and shows that the Trump approval rating alone won't win races for the Dems.

14   anonymous   2017 Jun 21, 7:44am

When a dem can't win an election in dark blue Georgia, they are doomed.

This is so great for America, what with Republicans history of doing so good with government, for the people, once they finally get a chance to be in charge

PC idiots at DNC do not understand that Trump problem in South was that he is a "damn Yankee" and he sure behaves in the way how Southerners think Yankees behave. He won with lowest % of vote in last 20 years in deeply red Texas. Anyone with a Southern drawl and letter R attached will win in districts where Trump won or lost by a few percentage points.

Forget history, we are in uncharted lands, where we have a president that was never an elected politician. We watched and waited patiently for the last 8 years for the country to turn around. Why all of a sudden is everyones panties in a bunch?

Because despite their protests that they are the party of science fact and logic, the Democrats of today are mostly leftists and depend entirely on made up hysterias it's continually evidenced by the postings of the leftists here on Patrick.net.

Yes I noticed that with the "traditional" GOP voter base, Trump did horribly, worse than Romney. He lost counties in Texas that Romney won, and also barely won midwest counties that he should have won by 10+ points. In my old area, Orange County, they voted blue for the first time in 60+ years.

Conversely he also flipped 200+ Democrat counties to GOP. Weird right?

I didn't vote for Trump but I do find him intriguing. He has some weird charisma that spans both sides of the aisle (which is why he won). Hillary basically only appealed to Coastal Leftist, which admittedly almost won her the election due to the population of California and New York.

Regardless, Gianforte, Handel, and others are riding his coat talks. 2018 is looking good for the GOP, don't waste it guys.

I didn't really care about that, you're literally arguing over peanuts, the difference between 4-5 points was immaterial to me. That's like when your favorite team loses the NBA championship by 10 points instead of 20 when they were expecting to win by 30.

Multiple #FakeNews sites reporting a 7 point edge blowout for a guy who lost by 4 points is hilarious. Basically any leftist polling has been shown to be extremely inaccurate over the past 12 months.

hahahaha. Your own post shows what a partisan hack you are.

You probably didn't realize that it shows the RealClearPolitics polling average was Handel +0.2%. So, I guess the MSM had it about right.

Like I said, fakenews.

35   curious2   2017 Jun 21, 10:27am

Bottom line, running against the President isn't working for Democrats. I suggest acknowledging three truths that should be self-evident to any Democrat:
1) Pence is worse than Trump;
2) Islam is worse than Pence;
3) since Obamneycare hit with full force in 2014, Americans are paying more and dying sooner.
If you can acknowledge those three, then you can see a way forward:
1) draft legislation consistent with the good things that candidate Trump said during the campaign;
2) denounce Islam, and draft legislation
a) to prosecute accessories to terrorism including those who attempt to profit as intended beneficiaries;
b) to stop hijrah
3) draft legislation to replace Obamneycare with something better, along the lines of what candidate Trump campaigned on.
The reason Democrats have not done any of those things is because the DNCe want more Petrodollar kickbacks including via both MICs, e.g. the Clintons' Saudi and corporate clients. If Democrats prefer to win, they can, but not by trying to make Pence President, and certainly not by spreading Islam. Stoking fear to the point of hysteria backfires when the other side turns out not to be nuclear Hitler after all. Try offering a better deal with better policies.

My best guess is that Trump got the vote of screwed-over blue collar workers. In TX, blue collar workers are doing well so Trump had less appeal + he is a damn Yankee. In Midwest these people are hurting, so they voted for the protest candidate and handed him the victory. Trump lost Fort Bend county near Houston which has voted for Democrats...never before (at least since 1970's).

39   sagacious1   2017 Jun 21, 10:31am

Remarkably, this may be what the beginning of a unifying process looks like. Democrats must create a better strategy which will attract voters, and frankly, so do some Republicans. I would expect greater movement from the Democrats as they have suffered massive losses over the last years....to the point where we risk becoming a 1 party system, which would be very bad. I'm waiting for the 1st politician to run on the notion of term limits, or some other sure single issue win.

That's a good theory. Makes a lot of sense. I would add the 8 years of making white people the villain also didn't help.
