HELP HELP HELP

Dear Techies on Patnet,
I downloaded Malware on my MacBook Pro. The ads keep popping up taking up a large part of the screen. I also keep getting directed to other web sites.
I downloaded all the ad blockers that Apple has. Only partially worked.
I signed up with McAfee, which blocked some more, but not all.
What can I do? Please help.

So should I just save all my documents somewhere, and reset the computer to brand new?

Have you tried uninstalling it?

"Apps that don’t have an uninstaller: In the Finder sidebar, click Applications. Drag the app from the Applications folder to the Trash (located at the end of the Dock), then choose Finder > Empty Trash."

Yes. Did that. Some of the pop ups and redirects still show up.
I believe it started happening after i got the phony pop ups that said my flash player was out of date. :(

No that leaves you open to ABSOLUTE corruption of your cpu. The only way to be sure to completely fix it is to submerge it in water for at least 30 minutes

Boiling water? That kills viruses.

Have you considered nuking it from orbit? It's the only way to be sure.

See if your computer has a restore point from before the incident and revert computer back to that point.

Install Kaspersky, if it doesn't work blame it on Trump...

Thank you guys. I am trying them all.
Going to "New private window" eliminates the ads, but i want the crap out of my computer.

Curious, I did not mean to divert attention from your original post. I'm sorry.

Thanks but no need to be sorry. The thread is about ransomware, which is a type of malware. Some of the mentioned software might guard against ransomware too.
