It's funny to watch people get riled up about the most minor of transgressions of these uber square FBI dorks, while the CIA is constantly committing felonies of the highest order, yet nary a peep.

Yah I'm pretty sure his wife was going to be running a campaign for office before he was just recently named to the office. Anyone who is married knows it's practically impossible to separate the business of husband and wife from each other entirely. This truth is SO self-evident, that a married person can not be compelled to testify against their spouse in a court of law!
I'd argue that he was supporting his wife, not engaging in partisan politics. He wasn't supporting the reds or the blues, just his family. That's clearly non-partisan, and therefore does not violate the Hatch act.
