From the article,

From February through May, the number of undocumented immigrants stopped or caught along the southwest border of the United States fell 60 percent from the same period last year, according to United States Customs and Border Protection — evidence that far fewer migrants are heading north, officials on both sides of the border say.

Um, that's a pretty narrow interpretation of the evidence. One could easily believe that the crossings have a new technique and are not being caught as often or that the border protection is less effective under Trump. Both are more likely than desperate poor people saying "Well, Trump's president so I give up". I'd have more confidence if border control was catching more border crossers.

The only evidence that clearly states Trump is decreasing the number of people trying to cross illegally is the word of migrant smugglers, and I don't really have much trust in them.

In any case, shouldn't Trump be deporting the people actually in the U.S. illegally? What has he done for that? Nothing. Christ, it's not like its that difficult of a task. Just check the tax records and social security records to identify every house and apartment where no one filled in a tax return or got social security. Then send ICE to each house to determine if the people there are illegal immigrants. You know that illegal immigrants have to live somewhere. This won't catch 100% of them, but I think it would catch over 90% and that's pretty damn good compared to right now.

Dan giving the shallow end of the gene pool, the business.

Wipe that drool from your chins, Trumpcucks!

The Wall (that will never be built) has zero chance of stopping the flow of anything into the country. Trumpcucks will never acknowledge or debate this absolute fact, very sad

Dan8267 says

If the right wants to build a wall, they can build a wall under two conditions.

1. The construction and maintenance is paid entirely by the right. This is enforced with a poll tax on voting or registering Republican.

2. A complete and utter end to all legal migrant work. The wall's not going to do shit. It's a symbol. Industry has to no longer be allowed to import workers, even "temporarily". The entire illegal immigration problem is caused by importing workers who then stay past their work visas, which themselves only expire to prevent the workers from gaining bargaining power because they are replaced with a new crop of migrant workers.

Have the republicans agree to these two simple conditions, and you can have your stupid symbolic wall / money hole. You will have to steal a lot of land using eminent domain though, and the wall will have to be forced onto states by the federal government, so that goes against everything republicans say they believe.

Whereas the wall is purely symbolic, the proposal I made to send ICE to specific residential addresses would actual work.

4   HEY YOU   2017 Jul 3, 9:57am

Why the fuck do we still have any ILLEGALS with a Rep/Con Pres.,CONgress & SorryCOTUS?
Because they are failures.
How many Rep/Cons are using illegals?
That's like asking how many Rep/Cons are on the govt. teat.
R/Cs won't respond.

Absolutely. Not sure if you can expect a Trumpcuck to think out even the first iteration of an implications chain.

The CIA World Factbook lists the land boundaries of the United States as 12,248
kilometers (7612 miles), and the coastline as 19,924 km (12,383 miles). These
numbers include all US territory. The Factbook doesn't break these numbers
down except to say that 2,477 km (1539 miles) of the land boundary consists of
Alaska's border with Canada, and that 29 km (18 miles) consists of the border
between Cuba and the US Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay. The rest of the land
boundary is presumably part of the perimeter of the contiguous 48 states.

-------------

The proposed Not so Great Wall of Trump would only cover ~1,250 miles of our Southern border. About 6% of our borders. Lol

It's intended to cover Trump's presidency so far, hence the narrow time frame.

Trump enforces laws on the books about not allowing illegal immigration and liberals think he is a bad man. Left has seriously turned into anarchist party lately, set on promoting destruction of America.

10   Shaman   2017 Jul 3, 12:48pm

The latest tactic (in clear use in the article linked to the OP) is to opine on the sad situations in the countries the illegals are coming from. How there's pervasive poverty and violence, how little they have.
As if it's somehow America's responsibility to help every person in the world. Newsflash!
There are 350 million people in the USA. There are 7 billion people in the world. We make up only 4% of the world's population, but are somehow responsible for giving the other 96% a leg up? What math do they use that gives them this number?

The fact is, we are already helping the third world tremendously, and not just from direct outreach. Simple dissemination of helpful technology makes people's lives better the world over, giving them access to more power and more choices.

If America is to help the world, we are doing it the only way that makes sense: by being the bright and shining beacon on a hill showing those in darkness the way forward. It's already worked in dozens of nations and peoples who modeled themselves upon our success and produced success stories in their own countries.

But immigration actually hurts the third world, taking their best and brightest, their hardest workers, their original thinkers, and their risk takers who will do anything to change their surroundings. If those people stayed, perhaps they'd be the change in their corners of the world. Giving them this avenue of escape just produces a brain drain that sucks the driving energy out of their homelands and allows them to stagger on in stagnation.

So, let's drop the phony act that immigration from the third world is about helping poor people.
It's about importing cheap labor to FUCK American poor people and enrich our already wealthy landowners, business owners, and the parasites who prey on us all.

Well let's take a MAGA approach then. For every one person that we don't 'help', we must first stop harming two people that we Labor class taxpayers are forced to fund said harm, at our expense, with no benefits and immense cost.

End the War on Drugs. This Failed Loser American Christian Right Wing policy has cost us Trillions of dollars, killed an incalculable amount of our citizens along with foreign citizens, and ravages these nations south of us, all while destroying our personal freedoms, and undermining the laws this country was founded on.

You can't claim to desire a return to Law and Order, without demanding the Federal Government end the War on Drugs.

I'll list the benefits of ending The War on Drugs, and I'll let yous share the cons from your cost benefit analysis

Benefits:

- a return to law and order. Over half the states have now voted to put themselves on the opposite side of the Federal Governments failed war. You cannot have Law & Order while you have a Federal government attempting to subvert the will of its people. The ancillary effects are far reaching:

People can respect the Law, and return to what once made this country Great. Peace Officers that are friendly to the community they serve. This is the best deterrent for crime, because actual crimes get solved, and the criminals are brought to justice, because LEO work together with the citizens to police their community. Time and time again, you read of how LEO have such trouble solving real crime, because nobody wants to help them, because the vast majority of people see them as the enemy.

- Return the Freedom of Personal Choice and Responsibility to the Individual. Tens of Millions of Americans already utilize the great American crop Cannabis, just as the Founding Fathers intended. Everyone knows that this country was founded on Cannabis, with many Founding Fathers being Hemp farmers. It was our primary cash crop since the early 18th century, all the way through the early 20th century, when Failed Statist Leftist losers like Harry Aslinger colluded with Crony "Capitalist" Andrew Mellon and the DuPonts, and the original Fake News propagandist William Randolph Hearst, to tax American Hemp and Cannabis out of the marketplace.

- combat runaway healthcare and health insurance costs. THC and CBD are highly effective, much cheaper alternatives to the majority of the addictive, ineffective prescription drugs that the crony "Capitalist " failed Losers have been forcing upon a nation of unquestioning Christian (how UnAmerican) simpletons for decades.

- creation of millions of American jobs, and businesses. The demand for legal recreational, and medical cannabis is Yuge. And we're talking jobs that produce Goods and Services, rather than all the War on Drugs gov jobs that we're currently taxed to pay for, and only cause harm and suffering. Hemp for Victory 2.0 would cause an immense economic boom. First, by keeping money in the paycheck economy, rather than government demanding that the individual end users overpay by a factor of 10 for their flowers. Secondly, by returning hemp and Cannabis production back to the Homeland, rather than Mexico and Canada.

-Alleviate the strain on the prison system. Why are we wasting so much money on feeding people and housing them in prison, when they haven't even committed a crime?

- Ramp up clean energy production while simultaneously lowering pollution. The current system of producing Cannabis and Hemp is grossly inefficient. The most expensive input is light energy, with Air Conditioning being a close second. Cannabis can double as a battery, by efficiently harnessing and storing the energy from the sun. Possibly cheaper than batteries do

P N Dr Lo R has said before that alcohol and tobacco are the favorites of 'Warriors ' lol

Odd, I have a wildly different definition of what a warrior is. A better term for people that consume toxic poisons like Alcohol and Tobacco is Failed Losers. Drunks and smokers are always pushovers, their coordination and stamina is terrible

More families fleeing Central America resettling in Mexico

The rise in refugee resettlement in Mexico has paralleled a decrease in immigration to the United States, with apprehensions by U.S. Border Patrol down sharply at the frontier — especially of unaccompanied children and families like Cruz's.

Under President Donald Trump, U.S. authorities have sought to ramp up immigration enforcement and decrease the number of refugees. Last week Thomas Homan, acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, warned that those who enter the U.S. illegally "should not be comfortable" and "should be concerned that someone is looking for you."

"I do think there are fewer people deciding to focus their sights on the United States precisely because it has projected itself as being an unwelcoming country," said Maureen Meyer, a senior associate for Mexico at the Washington Office on Latin America, a human rights-focused organization.

After Mexico received 3,424 applications for refugee status in 2015, that rose to 8,794 the following year and applications are already outpacing that this year with 5,464 just from January to May.

Nearly all are people from the so-called Northern Triangle countries of Central America, where street gangs are largely free to terrorize the population and murder rates are some of the world's highest outside of open war zones. The Mexico office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees believes the country could receive 20,000 requests by year's end.

"We're talking about entire families, of entire generations ... who arrive at Mexico's southern border," said Francesca Fontanini, regional spokeswoman for the UNHCR. "Obviously, facing this avalanche of people the humanitarian response needs to increase."

Belize, Costa Rica and Panama also saw a rise to more than 4,300 refugee applications last year from people fleeing El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala.
