Cheap beef is coming so there's that.

Trump needs to kick down NK's door and kill Kimfuck.

2   HEY YOU   2017 Jul 5, 3:35pm

It's not,"Where's the beef?"
It's ,Who can afford beef?

Anything to continue having cheap oil.

And big military.

Let's see, there's Syria, Afghanistan, not much left there, Pakistan, North Korea,

There is no oil in the above mentioned countries. Only crazy terrorists.

Yes liberals take your own advice on just about everything you think about this world. Especially when you folks talk about that global warming hoax.

The only problem is that while the "lying us into war" might not be any different, the players and capabilities are. There is helping the American people to stomach a course of action an administration feels it must take, and then there is outright falsifying things to justify nationalistic aggression. In the Trump machine there is a huge salivating nationalist hunger. It wants war. It is going to need it, or a crisis, to maintain power soon. That or the GOP will oust it.

There is an old saying that goes something like this ...

The solider who seeks war and a fight should be praised,
the officer who does this should be guided and watched,
while the general who seeks war should be imprisoned.

Heaven help America, and the world, if a terrorist attack hits us now. We have very impulsive and rash hands at the controls. The JCS, Intelligence Committee, and especially Mattis are the only things that let me sleep at night.

N. Korea's ICBM is a worry. Giving the US an excuse to use one of our new toys? Far FARRRRRRrrr more of a worry. We now have nuclear capabilities that are not MAD. They are first strike and win weapons. I just hope Trump keeps thinking the Navy needs steam power.

The thing that lets me sleep in on the weekends, besides my lovely wife: Trump's absolute incompetence.

why the 24 x 7 bluster from MSM, non MSM media and the administration about the need to go to war ?

Answer:
anonymous says

"mixed results."

It only takes one to get through to fuck up a city and a couple million folks...

7   Y   2017 Jul 6, 8:23am

I agreed with you. Carriers are sitting ducks if a barrage of shit is fired at them simultaneously.

anonymous says

@BlueSardine - odd logic there. When I suggested the same where our invincible navy was concerned, specifically carriers - the majority of the posters here thought it was preposterous.

8   Y   2017 Jul 6, 8:25am

well, they don't, since the logic is based on active nuclear weapons and the ability to deliver them to the US Mainland by a country swearing to blow us off the face of the earth

anonymous says

But using this logic shouldn't we be going after Iran first since they have far more of everything that is being used to scare the bejesus out of the population.

9   Y   2017 Jul 6, 8:27am

we are not starting it. 2 stage intercontinental missiles falling into the china sea closer and closer to Japan on every launch from NK is starting it.

anonymous says

My bad - I got it now. We start something we can't finish,

10   Y   2017 Jul 6, 8:29am

if it comes down to it, yes.
History has taught us this is man's nature as long as records show.
Seems nothing has changed in this regard.

anonymous says

let someone else have their cities and a couple of million fucked up

11   Y   2017 Jul 6, 8:31am

Why bring Benghazi into the discussion?

anonymous says

it's not real money and those dead people we see aren't real either - their just images on TV.

12   Y   2017 Jul 6, 8:35am

Well i guess Reagan, bush, clinton, bush, obama, trump all qualify then.
Here, a timeline for you to peruse...
http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/29/world/asia/north-korea-nuclear-timeline---fast-facts/index.html

After 38 years of failed negotiations, you really think NK will adhere to anything new?
Now that they are on the cusp of taking us out, after breaking every nuclear deal ever agreed upon, you want to keep talking all the way to armegeddon...
You do realize the next world war will be nuclear armegeddon, and will be started by some rogue fuck with nukes, don't you?
Gee, who fits that bill?

anonymous says

That's what I call a win-win.... For moronic losers who can't figure out how to make a deal or use dialogue to solve problems...

13   Shaman   2017 Jul 6, 9:26am

Iran hasn't hurt our homeland and hasn't made any significant attempt to do so.
NK is technically still at war with us and keeps threatening to take all actions to destroy us, while frantically trying to make nuclear bombs and missile systems to deliver them.
Iran is a Muslim nation, but Shia predominates. They are the type of Muslims who can tolerate other religions and ways of doing things, and just apply the Islam rules to themselves. Sunnis like the Saudis think it's a crime when anyone of any religion doesn't follow sharia. There's room for cooperation with Iran. There's very little room for cooperation with the Saudis, since they lie to us that they are friendly while equipping terrorists and spreading their intolerant sect across the world to fuck up other places.

Russia is looking out for Russia, as usual. But that doesn't mean we can't find common cause. In fact, since they share many of our values, including the major religion, we should be able to find many reasons to cooperate. Only the chicken hawks in thrall to banking interests and oligarchs want conflict there.

Those approaches don't always work. Otherwise nobody would bother having a military! Are you really that naive, or are you just playing devil's advocate?

15   Y   2017 Jul 6, 12:14pm

if we are forced into a war, why not?

jazz_music says

Our strategists have been busy simulating nuclear strikes against NK for over 20 years now, so any war there is going to be a question of how to best exploit a victory for American interests.

16   Rew   2017 Jul 6, 3:32pm

There's little reason for worry since no other country can really touch us, our massive forces, and our electronic warfare except maybe Russia or China.

The only reason to worry is if you are a common person and value you your life or current prosperity and way of life. Yes, we have first strike and win capability, but after that, the world becomes unhinged. We will be a pariah nation and people.

We will have become the monster we sought to destroy.

It will not be a victory, though we will win. South Korea will pay dearly and the world will blame us. We will be seen as embroiling the pacific in conflict.

China will be the one to capitalize.

18   MisdemeanorRebel   2017 Jul 6, 5:14pm

When Obama bombed Syria with no causus belli and no UN Authorization, the US was acting like a rogue state. And when he sold arms so the Saudis could kill civilians with no International Approval in Yemen, too.

Hopefully this will all wind down.

I wonder what happened to all the "Media Conglomerates dangerous for Democracy" stories we usually get when Republican Governments dominate?

Did you see the slave markets in Libya?

Were they going when Qaddafyi was President?

BTW, when Rocketman saw what happened with Qaddafyi being backstabbed by Hillary, you think that makes him more or less willing to trade nukes to be left alone?

So N. Korea has been given a clear example of a non-nuclear country being toppled by us, and most recently with Iran a country who made nuclear treaties, and is obeying them, the US is failing to uphold its end of the agreement.

The message appears to be: if you don't have nukes you lose and any diplomacy looks pretty pointless.

(slow roll golf clap)

It's too bad we have about the weakest foreign policy and diplomatic corps since about a century. If this administration was better, if the people elected good representatives, it probably could be a whole lot different right now.

(Also, friendly tip, you need to do better than USA Today editorial (opinion) as a source of actual news.)

Actually, the message we have is quite simple and clear...If you are developing nukes, you have two options:
1. You destroy them.
2. We destroy them.
