This is an example of simply not planning for an attack. Once the attack is used and becomes publically known, it can easily be fixed. Simply filter out all frequencies outside an acceptable range before processing the voice recognition. The only reason such simple code wasn't written for the original product is that the attack was not anticipated. After all, why send commands unhearable by humans to Alexa or Siri other than for shits and giggles.
