Enough of Tenpoundbass thunderdome

By iwog following x   2017 Aug 2, 12:23pm 2,912 views   109 comments   watch   quote     share

I don't care what this twit posts and this isn't about content. I'm concerned about the volume.

The top loading page has TEN (10) threads from this idiot and they are all very toxic rants. When people visit the site they are introduced to "pisshole, shithole, and dial-a-rape" and that's just today.

This is becoming the face and the tone and the primary content of Patrick.net. It's basically the Tenpoundbass show now. Is this really what you want here?

15 links can be put in a single thread.

This.

Push an agenda is not the problem. Dishonestly pushing an agenda is.

Agreed it's not the problem, but you shouldn't be able to push any agenda (honestly or dishonestly) by spamming the front page. Many times these post are covering the same topic. Maybe don't blow your load at once and put 3-4 links in one post. I could deal with that but it would require the user to restrain themselves. A post limit could potentially do that to the user and prevent everyone else from dealing with said load being shot all over the home page (I know there's new filtering for not logged in visitors). The fact is future site growth will require current users to keep things interesting. I for one have left after 10 seconds on the homepage because there was a large pile of shit there. I don't like shit.

Yes, spamming in itself is unacceptable. However, even without spamming, the noise created by shit threads from TPB are also unacceptable.

Once again leftie censorship. Who cares, his threads disappear if no one responds. Rew spews his anti Trump BS non stop and is ridiculous. Stop responding-he responds to himself sometimes-but who cares-get a chuckle and move on.

Filtering, banning or whatever used to remove the offending user from your view, so you could come to the home page and see things that might interest you. I did that. I always commented way more than I ever posted.

Now banning doesn't work. I ban a bunch of people who I will never find interesting and then I still see all the crap they post, and anything possibly interesting is buried under crap posts.

Honestly I have zero interest to see anything ever from FtWayne, Tenpoundbass, Goran_K, P N Dr Lo R, Quigley, RealEstateIsBetterThanStocks, BlueSardine. None of them can carry on a debate so there's really no point in commenting or reading their wailing wall.

I'm not advocating censorship. I'm advocating time limits.

Yesterday the face and tone of Patrick.net was nothing more than the insane rantings of Tenpoundbass. Anyone who visited this site yesterday would have read a full page of vile pro-Trump, kill-da-liburls sewage and I dare say most would simply move along and delete this place from their browsing history.

If this is what Patrick wants, he should continue to allow it.

Funny. I don't see "Patricks Debate Club.net" anywhere on the site.
It appears to be a site to 'comment' on current events.

de·bate

com·ment

The problem here appears that half the audience wants to debate, the other half wants to comment.
How about two post buttons, one to specify a post as a 'comment', one to mark the post as a 'debate response'
Use two colors to mark the text in the post as such.
Debaters can scan for posts of one color, Commenters for the other.
Of course, the real men can read both without wetting their pants...

My two cents: BRING BACK IGNORE

TPB was far less toxic when we had the ignore function. He didn't want to be ignored and he walked that line, being far far less obnoxious. Don't get me wrong, he was obnoxious, but he wanted his bullshit to be seen.

I'm serious. Bring back ignore. Anyone who wants to can ignore him. Meanwhile he's likely to moderate his content, that is if he's not overly triggered by how wrong he has been about chump.

Does it have to be ignore or ban ? Why not both

Yes, indeed, America is pretty damned right wing, not conservative. I'm conservative. Iwog is conservative, hell FW you don't know what conservative even means. You think conservative means unintelligent ? You're wrong.

The fact that Iwog or Hillary Clinton could be defined by your type as super liberal tells you just how far to the right this country has swung.

Oh yeah, ignore, that is the word I was thinking of.

I used to contribute a lot more when I could use it too.

You can call it bloody murder if you want but bring it back and I will use it on the same type of people I always used it on.

Brilliant. So you're saying that functionality that allows me to not see an individual's posts (and them to not see mine), is censorship, but I should just close my browser.

It would only be censorship if I (the user) or the owner, Patrick, prevented others from seeing someones posts.

Trolls want their noise to be seen, so the ignore function causes them to moderate their BS. Ignore also allows people who don't like being trolled or who don't have the time or the inclination to be bothered with certain assholes to tune them out when they so choose.

You can tell someone's a lying troll when they say or imply that Al Gore said he invented the Internet. That never happened.

However, Al Gore did create more jobs than all Republicans in history combined when he sponsored legislation that allowed the modern Internet to come into existence in the 1990s. So yeah, you should give Al Gore credit for increasing America's prosperity and jobs more than all Republicans combined.

You're extremely confused on what freedom of speech means. Freedom of speech is not the ability to take over any forum you want and dominate it with your speech. Do you think it's your American right to charge into a town hall meeting, steal the microphone, and hold it for 6 hours?

Clearly this is ridiculous so why the fuck do you think it's a violation of speech to try and enforce similar rules online??
